I like this guy's general outlook on the auto industry, although his tone of voice and mannerisms gan get a little carried away. Nevertheless, he is right on the money, and I agree with most of what he says.

Yes, his vehicle-ident was wrong...good catch. The basic point he was making was correct, though....the terms crossover and SUV are getting increasingly blurred nowadays.

He was also correct about needless disclaimers that pop up on video screens. My Lacrosse has a couple of them.....where my earlier Verano, also with a touch-screen, didn't. IMO they serve no serious purpose because nobody really cares about them...they simply press "OK" to clear them off the screen.

You and your husband apparently have older vehicles where you don't have to press "OK" or "I Understand" before the disclaimer goes away. Today, the industry is so concerned with litigation that they pop up stuff that one is supposed to have learned back in Basic Driving 101, before his or her license was ever issued......indeed, stuff that is simple basic common sense.

I also blame the legal system itself, as well as the manufacturers. Today, the overly-protective system allows people to sue if they simply step on the wrong pedal and then wonder why the vehicle doesn't slow down LOL.

I have the OK button on screen. It just goes off on its own. Same with the new Avalon.

I don't remember that being on the last new Avalon I drove, maybe about a year ago, but I'll take your word for it....you've probably seen more new Toyotas than I have.

I guess you don't really appreciate just how litigious some people really are. Just because you are an upstanding individual and wouldn't look to blame GM if you were distracted and got hurt doesn't apply to everyone.

I heard a story this week that someone is suing Trip Advisor (or some other on-line travel booking site) because she go bucked off of a camel when on vacation abroad and Trip Advisor should have told her that the company giving the camel tours wouldn't tell her to be careful (I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it). It's become a societal requirement.

No--it's dependent on the manufacturer.

My '19 Hyundai and '14 BMW--it goes away by itself.
My '12 Mazda and former '04 Honda--you had to press OK.
My former '07 Lexus--the original software version you had to press OK; '11 or '12 update, it went away on its own.

The disclaimer goes away automatically on both my 2019 Highlander and my 2019 GS350.

Disclaimers go away automatically on my LS and the Pacifica.

It dont matter, nobody remembers the CHR. It is the stepchild of the illegitimate child in Toyota world.

its nice to use them as approach lights at nite, I think that's their purpose.

It would be nice if they were tied to a light sensor.

But I can't tell you how many times I've been fooled in a parking lot thinking someone is backing up (including nearly tackling my kids out of harms way). It's a nice thought, but a bad design, and there have been on-line posts complaining about them for years--enough time for GM to change it, if they cared.

There's a whole lot of things I can, and do, blame GM for (I'm sure you have followed my posts on that subject, so I won't elaborate here). But, no, you are correct that driving stupidity or distraction on my part (or on anyone else's part) would not be one of them. Nor should it be......there is such a thing in this world called honesty, and I am one of those persons who believes in it and practices it.
