GENESIS ANNOUNCES RECORD OCTOBER SALES

Nov 1, 2019

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., November 1, 2019 – Genesis Motor America today reported sales of 1,935 in October 2019, a 420 percent increase compared with the prior year. October sales were led by the multiple award-winning G70 luxury sport sedan.

“The positive sales momentum of the G70, G80 and G90 is a reflection of our efforts to bring attention to the Genesis brand,” said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Executive Officer, Genesis Motor North America. “In the coming months, we will sharpen our focus even further, as we plan to add new models to the Genesis family, including the 2020 G90 and our first SUV.”

In the first three quarters of 2019, Genesis brand sales rallied, thanks to increased brand awareness and the ongoing success of the G70, G80 and G90 luxury sedans. The Genesis brand continues to be recognized for excellence in quality by leading third parties, including J.D. Power and AutoPacific.

I noticed Corolla u.s. production was cut 50%... guess the rest are coming from Japan... must be shifting mixes of what gets made and where.

Porsche Reports U.S. Retail Sales for October

Year-to-date deliveries up 6.5 percent, led by next-generation 911 and refreshed Macan Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan model lines, today announced October retail sales rose 13.1 percent from the same month a year ago to 5,447 vehicles – the strongest monthly performance this year. For the year through October, total retail deliveries rose 6.5 percent from the same period in 2018 to 50,509.

“I think our customers appreciate the range of model choices we offer, whether they are excited by the latest generation of our iconic 911 or an SUV with the heart of a sports car,” said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA. “Adding the all-electric Taycan to our portfolio gives those customers even more options for Porsche thrills once we start deliveries late this year.”

October retail sales of the Porsche 911 rose 65 percent from a year ago as the eighth generation model reached showrooms. The refreshed Macan was up 19.2 percent from October 2018.

Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. totaled 2,138 vehicles in October, up 24.6 percent year-over-year.

The previous generation Corolla was made in the United States and in Canada. Toyota has stopped making the Corolla in Canada and have a new plant in Mississipi where they are assembling the model, it is not quite up to speed for the US petrol models. The Corolla Hatchback and the Corolla hybrid are imported exclusively from Japan and are not built stateside.

I guess nobody caught that the G70 outsold the IS, the G80 also outsold the GS, and the G90 is about 200 off the LS.

Kinda sad really... but the IS and GS just need to be replaced or let go. The current LS i’m sure hasn’t been the success lexus hoped in the u.s. not always good to have a radical styling change in what is basically a very conservative market. The LS has been ‘stately’, ‘subdued’, and VERY refined. Now it’s ‘look at curvy me!’, ‘anything but subdued’ and in some ways LESS refined than before. What could possibly go wrong?

That is good news for Genesis, hope it gives Lexus a kick in the pants to update those 2 sedans and rush a quick update to the current LC500 which includes a not outrageous V8 option/standard. The G80 had been outselling the GS for months before the dealership fiasco, G90 was outselling the LS too for months. LS500 sales are poor, this new model is a disaster for Lexus who went from one of the biggest sellers in its segment a few gens ago to now one of the worst.

the LC500 is already V8 standard, maybe you meant the LS500? I don’t see that happening. I’d bet a PHEV or EV version before that.

I don’t think that’s true about g90, but anyway, not important.
