Default My 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is the most frustrating vehicle I have ever owned

Need to vent...

So I'm at the beach with my family, we have both cars but are driving the Pacifica. Its me and my wife, our 4 year old twins, and my mother. Been here all week.

More time with the Pacifica than I usually spend, its probably the worst made vehicle I've ever owned. Crap is broken all the time, nav screen freezes up off and on and just doesn't work (been in the shop 4 times for that), the sliding doors randomly work and stop working, and they grind when they open like they're going to fall off (which happens, check the forums), they bind and reverse consistently which is really obnoxious.

Then, we have the kids in the third row, and one off the second row seats stowed in the floor (stow n go) and my mom is sitting in the other seat, its just so convenient and well thought out, so much room, so frustrating...

Such a shame Chrysler can't seem to design a great vehicle like they have and also build it well...

This is an unfortunate vent. Sad.

Very sorry to hear that. This is why I don't agree when people say that reliability doesn't matter on leases/short term ownership. These issues hinder the ability to use the vehicle as intended and takes up valuable time to address, whether covered under warranty or not.

I pretty much detest FCA and don't see any reason to purchase one of their vehicles. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Oh it absolutely does. Its such a pain to be without the family vehicle that we just don't even bother trying to have things fixed anymore.

You can look at it three ways, though. First, you probably (?) don't have much longer on the lease.....unless you signed for three years (I don't remember if it was for two or three years). Second, what do you expect from a company whose dealership just dumps all the keys/fobs in a big box and then scatters them on the floor when they need to find one LOL? Third, even with what you and your wife (unfortunately) are going throgh in the unreliability department, the worst Chrysler/Fiat products built today probably can't hold a candle to the kind of frustrations we saw with the Chevy Citation/X-Body GM compacts or Chrysler's own vehicles in the 1980s. I did a entire Car Chat thread on just the troubles, alone, that I went through with the Citation.

And it's this kind of stuff that makes me marvel at people saying the RAM 1500 is the best truck in the market because of how fancy it is.

It's still built by FCA....all the fanciness in the world means jack if it doesn't work.

Perhaps the rollers/hinges or some other moving parts in them need some lubrication. Have you (or the shop) tried spraying them, where the parts can be reached, with WD-40 or a similar silicone lube-spray? Also, check and see if there are any small objects (such as coins, screws, nails, etc....) stuck in the channels or guide-mechanisms...that can sometimes cause binding or non-operation.

He's correct that FCA products usually aren't the best bet for reliability, but, IMO, he still overdoes his speech/mannerisms/emoting in front of the cameras.

Perhaps but it is infinitely more fun to watch than TFL and their poor acting.

She's frustrated by all of these issues, but not so frustrated she would be willing to give up some of the conveniences the Pacifica, or a minivan in general has.
