Beautiful concept...one of the best-looking designs I've seen from Lexus in a long time. But the obvious question is what kind of retractible roof will it have...fabric or hardtop? The article doesn't say, and some other articles, from different sources, mention that Lexus didn't even put a working roof on it at all when it was first displayed at the Detroit show.

A folding hardtop, of course, on a Lexus product (ala SC430 and IS250C), would probably make more sense and offer more security/weatherproofing and sound-insulation. Given the design of the rear end behind the seats, though, it would be very difficult to design a folding hardtop.....a flexible ragtop would be the more likely choice.

Most likely a soft top, which is fine I think. The 6 series, 8 series, S class coupe all have soft tops. The modern ones are quite well insulated so they are well fitting to a flagship convertible .

The concept showed a soft-top

Honestly looks better in a convertible form w/ soft top then the hardtop. IDK how but it does.

The convertible rids the coupe of it's odd, high-centered shape. This body looks great without a top.

My bet is that it will be a soft top. This pic looks great. Gorgeous in fact.

One of the few convertibles that actually looks good with a soft top up. That is not unheard of, but rare. Probably would look even better if they dyed the soft-top body color. I don't know why we don't see that on more convertibles.....maybe too expensive to do for every car.

That is beautiful indeed. Shame it will just be a flash in the pan like most convertibles and sports cars. Now that they got Akio's fetish out of the way, maybe they can release new gens of vehicles that people can and will actually buy.

I think plenty of people are buying Lexi. But perhaps you were referring to the niche vehicles like the LC.

Yes I'm referring to cars like the LC and etc that most people won't and can't afford to buy.

What does most people mean? A $90K car with two doors and a V8 appeals to a small demographic.

It looks pretty good. I like it a lot.

Dyed soft top will never match the body color paint, I actually think it is the contrasting colours between the soft top and the body that makes it appealing ...
