Is Anyone Buying the IS 300 F Sport Black Line?
By Thomas Mabson It's a limited edition, but did anyone hear the siren's call for this IS? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...bfb5e5effa.png |
If it was available in a 350 I'd consider it.
|
I don't see the problem. It's an appearance package, much like the F-Sport, Coach Edition, and Pebble Beach thing. None add more power and none claim to.
|
Seems pretty normal to offer an appearance package on a car like that.
|
Other than the interior trim, I don’t see a lot of differences from my obsidian IS F Sport.

They should have offered it in the 300 and 350 trims. |
How glorious would it be for Lexus to make a new IS F? Pretty please, Toyota????

Available on both the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive IS 300 F SPORT models, the Black Line Special Edition has several exterior features that set it apart from the standard IS 300. Most notable are the 18-inch, split spoke wheels with a “black vapor chrome” finish, a technology shared with the wheels on the flagship LS sedan. To complement the darker wheels, the Black Line Special Edition also comes equipped with black side mirrors regardless of body color. There are three exterior color options to choose from: Ultra White, Obsidian and Atomic Silver. To give the interior the mark of a true Special Edition, all Black Line models come with black Nuluxe seats with red accents on the side bolsters and seat cushions. There are additional red accent panels on each side of the center stack along with contrasting red stitching on the seats, center console and armrests. Also included is a heated, black wood-trimmed steering wheel that features distinctive shades of black that were created by a Japanese calligraphy shop dedicated to perfecting ink for more than 200 years. All Black Line models come equipped with Navigation and triple beam LED headlamps. |

I'm going to say the F Sport package is not a poser package, for what it's worth. :) You do get sportier seats, perforated leather steering wheel, the TFT digital gauges, and, on 350 models, AVS. In addition, you get different wheels and functional brake cooling ducts, and high-friction brake pads. The brake pads are awesome, by the way. Totally did the job on a spirited drive I did with some friends recently (see signature).
That said, I really like those Black Line seats. It's just, if I were to get another IS I'd want to move up to the 350. I am not unhappy, per se, with the acceleration in the 300 AWD I have, but I definitely think the car could use more power. |

:D For the performance upgrade, it's covered with the 350 model. |
