Room for a GS or GS F Coupe?
#31
GS F Coupe rendering looks nice.
However, Toyota Motor Corporation's focus is about money.
TMC is by far the wealthiest auto manufacturer in the world with equity of some 200 billion dollars.
Diamler AG is less than half at some 80 billion dollars.
To have this sort of money, TMC must be shrewd with models that do NOT sell in appreciable numbers.
Hence TMC rebadges Subaru BRZ's into Toyota GT86 coupes.
Likewise, TMC reskins BMW Z4 cabrios into the forthcoming Toyota Supra.
Ditto halo white elephants in the LFA, RC coupe, and LC coupes.
The LFA was a limited run.
The affordable RC should sell in better numbers, but maybe the styling is not as good as it can be?
The LC coupe certainly looks nice with most people admiring, but at that price, we can't expect too many sales.
With three loss making halo white elephant 2 door coupes in the LFA, RC and LC - it is unlikely that TMC will invest in another loss making halo white elephant 2 door coupe.
Best focus on a decent selling profitable 4 door Gran Coupe like the old 2005-12 3GS which debut with a healthy and record breaking [for Lexus] 33k+ units in its debut year in the USA.

Advanced
They are many good ideas in this thread.
But
Toyota seems busy destroying themselves. So it's very probably that at least the GS, the LS and the ES are going to be terminated and replaced by a unique midsize SUV. The RC beeing also in concurrence with the LC isn't good either, but Lexus seems to have, at least, a plan with those cars.
Oh yes, and there is the BMW engine thing too.

The renders are up! Head to the front page for all the details on what how we imagine a line of coupes could look. And thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. Super cool to see what enthusiasts think about the possibilities!

This. As absurd as it sounds (how can a coupe have four doors?), the best chance of a next generation GS is to move it into another segment that the current ES won't be able to compete in during dealership visits. Enthusiasts know the different between the GS and ES, but most consumers just see two midsize sedans with price differences.
On topic, nice render. The exterior size and color reminds me of the RC F.
