Scotty must have bumped his head on the hood too many times.

Scotty is comical and I have picked up a few tips from his videos in the past, but I've done a lot of research on the LS series and I have yet to come across a V6 LS430!

From what I gather is the v6s waste more gas than the v8....that said I wouldn't mind an is300 or gs300 98-2004 lol

Scotty Kilmer is a YouTube personality. His interest is gaining maximum viewership for revenue. His earlier videos were better before he blew up. Either way the LS400 looks significantly better than LS430. There's no better marker than personal experience. Owning my LS400 for 2 years has taught me a few things most notably that maintaining an older car no matter how reliable will cost money.

Amen to that! I think many cars get bad reps because the owner is clueless about proper maintenance. How many people ruin their engines because they never check and/or change their oil? Abuse, neglect, and ignorance account for many issues that people blame on poor manufacturing. Toyota put out awesome cars until the mid-2000s.

Too true. He kept talking about v8's when I really think he was referring to older cars. As far as I know, these Toyota engines are almost bullet proof. Now, when these cars get to 23 years old like mine is, the list of repairs gets very long and it's mostly an age thing.

Here's my data point:
1991 LS400, 201k miles
second owner; original owner was my father in law
I do all my own work on it, usually careful to not replace things that don't need it.
Even if it will last forever, I repair and maintain it like the $3k car that it is.
During my ownership:
11 years
38k miles
$4398 in repair and maintenance costs, including bi-annual smog checks, original purchase price of service manuals

That's 11 cents per mile. Running great. Happy with that.

BTW, I similarly maintain my wife's 2011 Honda Odyssey mini-van, and in 6 years on that thing (3rd owners, bought with salvage title), it's clocking in at 1.7 cents per mile (over 80k+ miles), which I find to be amazing.

He has a old 6 lexus for his wife.Scotty always favors v6 over v8 engines except in trucks.I bet a six is better on costs than the v8,though we know the v8 can be dam reliable. His big bugaboo is a 6 can do what an 8 does with less nowadays.

Im going over to defend Blackbird,Scotty must be held accountable!

Default disagree with this about the LS430

Not only do I think this assessment is inaccurate, it shows the ongoing bias that this channel has. Inline 6's and V12's are inherently balanced. V8's effectively are. V6's are not. To continue to push a V6 is rather odd.
