LC will never be built for US market, it is sold in the US as a homage to the brand. Now next gen Sequoia, sure.

One could (?) make the argument (with at least some justification) that the LC is primarily intended for the Middle-East, specifically, for well-heeled people there that have money to spend.

for parts of the world with very bad roads and general drving conditions. While LC is popular in the middle east, they have various different equipment levels, even very, very base ones... and they actually have LX selling awesome in Middle East, and that thing has no cheap version anywhere.

^^agreed. For the US market, there are very few who choose the LC over the LX, so total sales of the two models would only drop slightly if the LC was cancelled (because LX sales would increase, albeit not 1:1 with the 3k lost LC sales).

But the way Toyota has handled the Sequoia is just baffling. It's in one of, if not THE most profitable market segment, and they've just ignored it entirely--and the sales volume reflects that. A modern, well-thought out vehicle in that segment to compete with the likes of the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon(XL) and Expedition, with Toyota reliability would be a license to print money. But they just don't seem to care.

Here’s the launch video...

some good upgrades by toyota across the truck/suv line... and this sequoia actually looks good! 6 speed auto is still lame... wonder if 4runner will still have the 5 speed.

Even a company as huge as Toyota (arguably the world's largest and richest auto manufacturer), does not have a limitless development budget. They have brought out a lot of new or redesigned vehicles in the last couple of years, and, maybe the product-planners just felt that the full-sized SUVs from Ford and GM were already so popular, with a generally loyal owner-base, that there was little value in spending money trying to redesign a new Sequoia that may (or may not) be able to compete with them.

....are sales numbers terrible on the sequoia?

Like with anything Toyota, they dont care unless it becomes truly unsellable, to the point they cannot fulfill the whole "*** for every seat" bit. The people who own em, and the people who advise others to buy em love spewing the same thing, reliable TOYOTA thats affordable. Thats all that they need. Its not a lie, its just a terrible thing to those who want something modern.

And for what I understand MY2021 is the year of the launch of basically all the Large BOF mobiles, Tundra, LC/X300 and by extension if their is another seq.

This should hold over folks in the market till then.

Yes, they're abysmal. 11k units in 2018. Vs. 180k for the Tahoe/Yukon, 275k if you include the Suburban/Yukon XL. The Tahoe all by itself sells just slightly fewer units every single month as the Sequoia moves in a whole year.

The Tundra and Sequoia are so hideous I can't believe they come from the same company that designed the Tacoma and 4Runner(which are both pretty good looking in their current gen)

If it's a Toyota truck/SUV it will sell in Colorado period and TRD branded stuff gets eaten up here much more so. I see TRD Pro 4Runners/Tacomas every single day;Toyota could slap a TRD exhaust and a few badges on any Lexus in their line and people would buy them.
Or do they not do anything TRD on a Lexus??

They're not going to merge the LC and the Sequoia together. The LC has too big a cult following, and it sells so well elsewhere in the world it costs them next to nothing to sell the vehicle here. The Sequoia and the LC are very different vehicles, play to different segments, etc/

I do totally agree that the Sequoia needs to be redone though, badly.

I think, Sequoia and Land Cruiser along LX will all be merged off of one platform. It makes no sense to have two different full size platforms in a shrinking market place. I think the Seqouia will be a trim level below Land Cruiser. Kinda like Yukon, then Yukon Denali.
