Default Advice on new Sports Car!

Looking to possibly replace my BRZ.
My thought process is either start modifying the BRZ with possible engine swap or Supercharge/Turbo - which would be very costly and then require upgrades to brakes, wheels, suspension, cooling etc.

Therefore started to look at a replacement - requirements are 2Door, Manual and preferably V8 before they become extinct.
Choices thus far:
1) Shelby GT350 - Love the sound and looks of the car. Size, weight and build quality are the negatives.
2) E92 M3 Competition - Probably the perfect car to fill my need. Issue is I have never bought used since im OCD when it comes to scratches etc. Also very hard to find a manual in the color/options i want. Really regret not ordering one of these when they were new back in 2013.
3) Dodge Challenger ScatPack Widebody - Love the looks. Car is HUGE with questionable build quality.
4) 1st gen Audi R8 V8 or V10 - Love the looks and how it drives, sounds incredible. Interior is really outdated, expensive, high maintenance costs.
5) 991 911T or S CPO - Amazing cars to drive with Classic styling. No V8 sounds, really high price.

Other cars I considered:
New Supra - no manual, engine is meh
996 911 Turbo - Not crazy about how it sounds, Interior is really outdated

Welcome to any suggestions - prefer to stay under $80k.

I like 2,3,5...but I'm not sure I'd want to own #3. But I like the vehicle.

How about a Corvette Grand Sport or too big? I totally understand the V8/stick--I may not be able to get one in time ducks not in a row. Don't know what a E92 M3 goes for or how much is really true with the rod bearing stuff. I did feel that oddly it lacks some torque but wants to rev. I wish I would have bought one new..

If there's any way to do the 991 then all else is moot. Prices seem really steep, even 6 y.o.....maybe it's worth the price. Just no way to go wrong with it...I'd probably go 4S myself. S if I lived in Cali or FL or TX...

I would choose the Shelby 350 GT:
  • Sounds amazing
  • Stick shift
  • You can buy brand new for under 60K
  • Potential to become a future classic

Have you driven a C7? A Grand Sport would be a track beast and best bang for your buck.

Yes C7 Corvette GS is definitely on the list! Not sure why i forgot to include it.

I test drove it during the summer and really liked it.
Doesn’t sound as good as the GT350 obviously but better overall build quality imo.

I drove all the cars i mentioned except for the GT350. Have an appt to test drive a used one this weekend.

Yes i found 2 so far that i started negotiations on with my color preferences.
MSRP is 61k but we are at $57-58k.
Feel bad for ppl that paid $5-10k over sticker. Plenty of used inventory as well.

My M3 is the speed car and it has way too much power for the streets. Plus i can tune it later for much more.

This car i’m not concerned too much about the speed. Just looking for NA power, manual, and nice sounding motor.
M3 V8 sounds epic as does GT350.

991 911 turbo cars and even the NA ones sound OK. I have driven my brother’s 911, he has the base 911 with the new turbo motor. Personally I think the M3 is faster and revs quicker and higher. Both cars are DCT. His does sound better.
Even the GT3 needs an exhaust to really pop.

My top 3 from your list

GT350 is probably the most unique and best sounding for sure.
C7 the most well rounded for the price and what you get
E92.. the howl of the S65B40 gives me chills. Love love love it. Probably hard to find one that's not abused though

C7 is probably the best buy, dollar for dollar.

can find used 2013+ Vipers for 80

Id honestly rather have a 18 Mustang GT Premium Perf Package over a GT350. With basic bolt ons and tune its 475rwhp.

If you think you would like driving a modified BRZ you should drive the fastest Boxster or Cayman you can afford.

Can't go wrong with a Bugatti Chiron. May have to put in a little overtime though. Maybe cut some lawns...

My vote would be GT350 or Corvette Grand Sport. If you could swing it a Porsche GT4 would be pretty sweet.

Never considered a Viper, might look into it.

I have driven the Mustang GT and was not impressed. You sit up high, steering is numb and not direct, manual is not great.
From all the reviews i have seen - GT350 drives completely different and obviously sounds different. I’m sure seating position is similar which is a big negative. GT350 also has excellent manual trans, great brakes, mag suspension. Its much different than a PP GT.
