2017 GS350 v 2017 Infiniti Q70
OK, I know this is a Lexus board. With that said, I am sure "many have gone before me" and had to decide between the GS350 and Infiniti Q70. What were your observations, and why dd you choose Lexus ?
I am looking at certified pre-owned 2017 model year, for purchase mid-2019
Thank you

I have no specific data to back this up and I'm not going to look right now because eating ice cream and watching Christmas movies sounds more exciting, but just my own educated guess I'd say reliability and build quality/fit-n-finish are most likely better as well. (Never sat in a Q70, just going by what I've read on the intarwebs over the years so take it for whatever it's worth)

one of my former sales managers had a Q70 and described the driving experience as "you feel every bump in the road"
i also personally don't like how tall it is, and since you plan on buying not leasing i say definitely go with the toyota product over the nissan-renault

The Q70 is a better looking car, and they have an L version which I like, but its nowhere near as refined as the GS. Doesn't ride nearly as well, nor handle nearly as well. Tech in the cabin isn't as sophisticated (if you can believe that), just all around not of the same caliber.

Biggest difference to me is they offered a 5.6l 420hp V8 with a basic Q70. That alone is pretty tempting. GS350 is likely more reliable, probably better fit and finish but the Q70 does have a nice interior in my opinion, I never spent much time in it to really see if there was apparent cost cutting. The older Q70's and M's were kind of bland but the update helped the looks especially with the L model. I would research the reliability more and look for trouble spots, I think they had some transmission issues.

Having owned 2 Infinitis (G35 and Q50) I would advise against getting an Infiniti. Both had issues with transmission. The G35 I had to get rid of ASAP because I knew the transmission was gonna go any day. The Q50 was a nightmare from poor ride quality, steering issues, poor interior fit issues etc.
I don’t like Lexus but I’m certain you won’t have issues with them.

Some great features in the Q70 but I hate the styling. It seems as tall as a CUV and is way too bulbous (is that a word?) for me.
Here's Motor Trend's comparison. Dated but still relevant.

i do like that it can be had with a V8 but infinitis (and nissan for that matter) in general just aren't too high quality, i'd certainly never get rid of my LS or E55 for one, although that red sport 400 model does look nice
