2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition (to be announced at Detroit)

For what this will cost you’d be better off buying a used RCF and doing your own modifications. You’ll save thousands and get better results.

+5 HP is abysmal , but you are forgetting the 180 lbs weight reduction and also the shorter gearing also makes the difference. They apparently changed the power curve as well. Also, it is 60 per year in US. Not total.
RCF is a great platform to start with. They just made it more focused for track performance without compromising luxury/amenities. Even standard RCF (now the carbon/TVD) has incremental improvements.

Looks like they made some great changes, which seems to show a commitment to the car. My only real issue is the bragging about it being "the most powerful Lexus since the LFA" and it turns out to be by a mere 1 horsepower. That's just asking for criticism.

I think the shorter gearing will make a huge difference. I think we all know the previous RC F had very tall gearing for what it was. With shorter gears, it'll be able to actually use the power it has at lower speeds.
TBH I am not fazed at all by the mere 5 horses gained - I mean it's an NA V8. And it's Lexus. lol.

I also think the shorter gearing and the 180lbs are big deal. After that, just rip off the oem seats for carbon fiber aftermarket models, and you have gained 120lbs to the equation. This makes 300 lbs weight reduction, it's a huge deal, bascially nullifying the main critics to the car.

That is probably the only complaint I have about my RCF. It is the gearing. It is long especially 2nd and 3rd. Great for highway rolls, but bad for 2nd and 3rd gear acceleration for short sprints. Lexus decided to keep the same gearing as ISF while stretching the powerband out another 600 rpm. Having overall shorter gear would be a great force multiplier in lower gears.

I’m glad Lexus is at least making some updates to the RCF.
The changes to the gearing and suspension updates to address understeer are good to see.
I look forward to seeing this new RCF be tested. I hope they made the exhaust sound as good as it does on LC500.
The other changes we need are more custom drive modes, cheaper pricing and more availability.
Lexus dealers usually don’t stock them and if you order one then you can’t lock-in lease program....
