Why be surprised? I've been trying to tell you, in a number of posts now, that this is not just your everyday, run-of-the-mill, corporate- business decision.........it has gone way past that. GM has really gotten themselves into a mess....on both sides of the border. They are facing an unprecedented backlash.....from numerous sources.

Its no longer even in the mainstream media news. This is a non issue. People can protest all they want, it won't do anything.

I have seen you say that you have been trying to tell me. While I do not think they will change or reverse their decision. I am just a bit surprised that GM Canada has a response. Of course they don’t want to lose sales. They were down in 2018 4th over 30% from 2017

GM is also responding to a new allegation at the Toledo, OH plant. As of now, that is not one of the plants scheduled for closing.

Interesting....now it's my turn to thank you for posting. Even as a private corporation, this law, if extended, could prevent GM (or other auto manufacturers) from relocating jobs without city-approval.

Thanks. Not sure if s law would be ethical. Would be very restricting in bringing new business to a region

Thanks for posting this. I guess it is possible to move production from Mexico to the United States.

Just noticed it was an older article. From Rams recently releases it appears they are focusing on the product unlike GMs recent releases. One is growing, the other is shrinking. This is what happens when you stray from focusing on the product and instead focus on numbers.

I'm at my GM shop this morning, getting routine service on the Lacrosse....they have Wi-Fi and Internet service. Dealer management tells me (assuming they aren't BS'ing) that the decision to close the plants and/or drop the sedans is currently on hold. GM hasn't made it public, but that is what the dealership has apparently been told....for now. So...we'll see.

I'm guessing that they still have sedans on their lot to sell?

Probably a good guess. Out of curiosity I looked at the Buick dealer near me and they have 6 listed. Four '17's and one each '18 and '19. Nice discounts of $8k to $10k off of MSRP.

For the actual record. GM did not say they would close the plants, they said no products allocated post 2019. As for Lacrosse, and CT6 they will continue to be built in China.
