I saw the UX in Toronto this past week. It is the prototype that is making the rounds to the GTA dealers. Its white and it is hybrid, it says on the lower door exterior that is prototype and not all materials might be the same production or something like it. Although I did not get to sit inside it, it has a very nice exterior design. I would say its more interesting that the high end Lexus car designs and it closer to a German design than it is Japanese. The exterior rear looks cool. To me, it looks more hatchback than SUV. Not a fan of Lexus hybrids anymore but this thing would be great if it was a plug in.

Yeah a proper "crossover"

If you go on Lexus Canada. They say the UZ has a standard 7” display as well as an available 10.3” touchscreen.

I had the CT and it was tight for us as a growing family, but as my daily and occasional use of the rear, was fantastic. Comparing the two, UX has just a half inch more legroom and hip/shoulder room. However, at least there was good toe room underneath the front passenger seat (didn't try behind the driver's).

CT:
- Total passenger volume 86 cu ft
- Cargo 14 cu ft

UX:
- Total passenger vol: 88 cu ft (with moonroof)
- Cargo 17 cu ft (hybrid) / 21 cu ft (2L)

What is the awful plastic material they are using on the upper door panels of the rear doors?

You mean this?

Thankfully, although hard plastic, it's grained, low gloss and 99% matches the soft-touch plastic door panels in the front door, in production form.

Yeah it's "prototype plastic" lol. It's the same shiny plastic I posted a pic earlier up this thread beneath the seat controls on the dash and in the front door armrest of this prototype UX. In production trim, all these pieces are the same low gloss grained (hard) plastic though looks pretty decent as far as hard plastic goes.

The more I see production pics, the more I'm liking it....

aside: respectfully, i'm someone who doesn't even get the idea of a 'daily' to keep the 'good car' for non-daily use or supposedly save on gas, etc. i don't believe it saves hardly any money overall and i don't get driving something not really desired just to supposedly save money. i sure wouldn't be caught dead in a CT (cramped, not quiet, not luxurious, slow as a slug).

So gun to your head, your choices are a CT or a Smart Car. Which is it?

Yeah old people in the villages florida (50000 homes and growing) will buy them instead of kia souls...

reminds me of the honda element that was marketed to 20 somethings with bikes and surfboards. Ended up being bought by frugal middle agers with dogs or an older relative with a wheel chair. Who knew?
