they are basically masking it to make it look different than what it is .

It is all new with lots of part sharing.

Also their decision to call 48v mild hybrids EQ is funny. Makes you wonder how much commitment are they doing for EVs if they are willing to share the EQ brand with even lowly mild hybrid.

Jaguar is doing this really well with their i-pace... and it is here, started selling, deliveries start in 60-70 days. No need to imagine how it looks.

i-pace is surprisingly expensive when I optioned it out. Also I find the rear styling to be a bit odd. And jaguar reliability mixed with electric car?

i-pace is 35% cheaper than similar Model X, and will certainly be more reliable... and pretty sure similar MB wont be cheaper or more reliable than a Jag. Plus it does not really exist yet, does it?

That Jaguar reliability is tied to gasoline cars. With EV they get a clean slate essentially.

Any mention of British automotive electrical systems (associated with Lucas) seems to be more of a (tragic) comedy than serious and reliable automotive engineering. So, combining "Jaguar" and "electric vehicle" seems to be a short circuit waiting to happen.

Didn't Lucas become defunct in 1996?

Lost in a merger. But reputations die hard, especially considering that there is so little left of the once proud British auto industry. Name me a British automaker that is still not in foreign hands.

Lotus is effectively Chinese-owned now that Geely has a majority stake in Proton. That means we could see Volvo-derived EV and hybrid drivetrains being used in future Lotus models.

An EV lotus could be cool. Oh wait, first gen Tessa roadster . But would be cool nonetheless.

Back to to the Mercedes. Wonder how many more years till we see a magazine comparison of and EQC, BMW iX3 and whatever Audi lol

realistically 3 years? Well maybe 2 if they test pre-production models and/or fly them from China

A lot of people are discounting the strength of the Tesla name to techies.
These are NOT car people and they don’t care about MB or Jaguar.

To them Tesla offers top of the line technology, it just happens to be in an automotive form.
Tesla will sell each car they as long as they are perceived to be the leader in tech and out of the box thinking / marketing.
