Twin-turbo V8 transplant from Ferrari will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 187 mph
With 590 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque, the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine powering the all-wheel-drive Levante Trofeo boasts more power-per-liter than any engine previously installed in a Maserati. Not surprisingly, the engine and its 156-hp-per-liter output are the product of the men from Maranello. The Ferrari-built V8 pushes the Levante Trofeo to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 187 mph.
Big power isn't all that makes the Trofeo special. Maserati says its top-shelf Levante boasts a 50:50 weight distribution and a Corsa (race) mode, which means this 'ute ought to be a mighty fine steer. Launch control makes the ludicrous acceleration a repeatable affair, should drivers so desire to rearrange the faces of their passengers at every green light. Maserati Integrated Vehicle Control is supposed to seamlessly prevent driver mistakesinstead of correcting them after the fact, as a traditional stability control system would do. In what we assume must be a joke, there's also an Off-Road mode.
The interior of the Levante Trefeo is swathed in what Maserati calls "Pieno Fiore" natural leather that is supposed to wear uniquely with age. It's offered in black, red, and tan, all with contrast stitching. The limited launch edition you see here has massive 22-inch matte-finish wheels, matte black paint, glossy carbon fiber exterior bits and matte carbon interior trim.
It'll come with a plaque featuring the owner's name and a serial number, but Maserati is only saying a "small number" will be built without giving an exact figure. We'll have to wait for official pricing information and availability.
Glad to see a V8 finally join the line-up. That said I've never been impressed with the Levante, the few times I've seen it in person. The Maserati Kubang concept before the Levante looked better IMO
Can they use this same strategy with all their vehicles. V8 options for Ghibli”s and Quattroporte’s I have no need for a 600hp power ultiity vehicle. But the 600hp AWD ghiblli doesn’t sound too bad.
Wow the Ferrari turbo V8 making its way into another cars(SUV)! I didn’t like Levante but the engine could be the reason along to get this car! Wonder how much it costs...

The engine your referring to known as the F154 its engineered and built by Ferrari, but the design is unique to Maserati and it has been in production since 2012. My issue is they never offered it in the Granturismo or Ghibli just the rear wheel drive Quattroporte. Maserati has been milk toast as of lately.

I think it looks pretty good, but not great on the outside. I like the big Maserati grill, but the rest of the Levante kind of looks like any other SUV.
Main thing I really carp on Maserati about though is the interior. Why am I paying $100,000 for an Italian "exotic" that shares the same interior switchgear with a $17,000 Dodge Dart? Why is the infotainment screen the same? They didn't even change the font, come on. If I'm spending big bucks on something Italian, I expect that certain design flare, that uniqueness, to carry over in every detail throughout the car, not for the interior to remind me of a Chrysler 200 rental car. Right now Maserati is kind of a hack IMO, a parts bin special.
Although that Ferrari V8 does sound like a lot of fun under the hood, can't deny that. I'd imagine this is going to be like a VW Phaeton in about 5 years, that car was you get the Bentley engine/drivetrain for about the same price as a 5 year old used Civic. Same thing here, Ferrari engine in a car costing less than a new Camry once these things are out of warranty.
well that's more like it on the power front at least... i still wouldn't want a maserati though and especially not an "SUV" maserati. any pricing released yet? because i'd hazard a guess that for whatever this costs, you can get a rough equivalent with equal or better performance that costs considerably less because it's not "a maserati" and will almost certainly be more reliable.
but, as my boy jeremy clarkson has said, who buys a car for reliability?!? i'm convinced his whole british and italian cars having "more soul" is just a way for him to justify how terribly built they are lol and because he likes them he's trying to spin unreliability and poor build quality into somehow being a good thing. reliability is boring, with an alfa romeo, half the excitement is wondering whether or not you'll actually make it to your destination!! i'll never forget he once reviewed an early LS 400 for one of his DVDs, and his main problem with it was essentially that it was too good and worked too well.

Thanks for the article to reference your statement. I own a V8 Granturismo S and I’m very familiar with the brands lineup. I was talking about the more powerful 600hp V8 engine not being available in their other cars. In another message that I posted well before you replied to my comment I specified that they only sell the Quattroporte V8 in RWD form and that I would love for them to offer the Ghibli and Quattroporte in AWD with the 600hp V8.

I see, sorry but I don't see that message you're talking about in this thread. Neither here nor there though.
