buying tesla at current stock prices would be insanity. better to let it fall first, as is likely though not guaranteed.

Texas is one of the few remaining states that doesn't allow Tesla to sell cars directly to customers.
love texas, but this is boneheaded.

Yes, Tesla is a smaller company than Ford, but lets not forget they are not just a car company. They are a solar and energy storage company as well. While those aspects of the business have yet to really take off, people are betting that they will pay off in the long run.

Barely....
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-...e-model-3-hell

Elon Musk has survived a shareholder vote to strip him of Tesla's chairmanship and replace him with an independent director, a plan that was backed by Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, among other Tesla shareholders. The proposal, which was defeated in a vote at yesterday's shareholder meeting, represented the strongest challenge yet to Musk's power over the Silicon Valley car manufacturer.

According to Reuters, Norges Bank Investment Management, favored dividing the roles of CEO and chairman to boost corporate governance. The fund also opposed the re-election of board member Antonio Gracias, though it backed the reappointment of both James Murdoch and Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal Musk. This isn't the first time the wealthy Norwegians has opposed Musk: the company previously voted against Musk's pay package back in March, which at the time was valued at $2.6 billion, but might ultimately be worth much more. The wealth fund holds a 0.48% stake in Tesla at the end of 2017, making it worth $252.5 million.

Meanwhile, despite the recent underperformance of Tesla stock, shareholders appeared willing to look through the growing production problems. Though Musk has consistently overestimated Tesla's ability to meet production goals, investors proved once again that they're willing to take his projections at face value - no matter how fantastical they might be - when Tesla shares jumped after Musk said it's "quite likely" that Tesla will build 5,000 Model 3 sedans a week by the end of the month. The company's profit- and cash-generation targets for the rest of the year are dependent on reaching this target, Musk said. Musk added that production has improved to 3,500 Model 3s a week.

Agree... but.... growing suspicion they apparently faked the NHTSA tests as those battery have burned folks alive... batteries are ticking fire hazards as they don't discharge in a crash and Teslas perform poorly in crash tests. A few lawsuits and Elon will have some shareholder issues on his hands... and he does need to raise $2.6B by end of August.... so not all roses, but then again, what car company is...

Hold up. There are rumors or reports that Tesla faked NHTSA tests on batteries? How? What happened?

The battery energy doesn't dissipate in a crash... like say, gas when the tank's ruptured... so, if the battery shorts in a crash (more often than not) they are a fire hazard until they discharge... the car can auto lock on impact, so a slight problem with escaping, especially if there's a fire

If the NHTSA tests took place on little or barely charged batteries (and Musk knew this).... and the NHTSA didn't let the battery sit for a month to check if the battery shorts...

It was only a matter of time until the big automakers start challenging Tesla. Daimler promises to have trucks in production by 2021 and I believe they can do it. Tesla promises 2019 but they have yet to deal with their Model 3 production issues yet. Tesla is biting off more than they can chew...

Love the blue lighting at the end of the grill slats.

Daimler said its Freightliner eCascadia, with a range of up to 250 miles (400 km) and an 80,000 lb (36 tonne) gross combined weight, will be suitable for regional distribution and port shipments.
What were the Tesla Semi stats?

Keep in mind that Elon has publicly announced that they will beat these announced stats.

300 or 500 mile models
150K base price for 300 mile range, 180K base price for 500 mile range
0-60 with 80,000 lb load at 20 seconds

you can tell mercedes is scared as hell right now, panicking enough to offer something that is only half the range with probably twice the price.
