I personally prefer the F40 over the F50, but that's just me.

The scheduled maintenance makes any Lexus a bicycle by comparison. Unless you live in certain areas, it's un-fixable. Water pump: $10,000, and they don't have any.
I mean the car in general is just amazing how it looks the formula 1 v12 thats in the engine bay, the sound it makes the rear wing, I just love the car.

I'm not a terribly big Ferrari fan myself (sports cars and exotics generally aren't my bag), but one feature they have had for years that I like is the gated shifter-slots. It takes the guesswork out of what gear you are in at any given moment, and of the chance of damaging the engine by running it past redline on a downshift. More manual transmissions should either have this, or a light on the dash to tell you what gear the lever is actually in.

The F50 is kind of the unloved, unknown top Ferrari. People went crazy for the 388GTO, F40 but when the F50 came out it did not make much of a splash or get a ton of attention whether it was from its NA V12, plain interior, odd styling, other more interesting super cars that came out at the same time, etc. I don't know. The Ferrari Enzo then picked up interest in top Ferrari's. I never really warmed up to the F50. I remember reading about a test between the 388, F40, F50, and Enzo in Top Gear or CAR and they chose the F50 as their favorite. I remember a funny comedy bit on David Letterman where a high school student learning to drive had to parallel park between a F50 and a Aston Martin in front of the audience and he got really close to hitting the F50.

I’ve always loved the F50 as well and always loved it more than the F40 even though most like the F40 more. It is my favorite older Ferrari.

I never did like the F50, as it was introduced when I was a kid. If you remember the rich kid had the bedroom modeled after exotic cars, his bed looked liked the Ferrari F50, it was a stupid design that looked pretty good as a bed, but stupid as a car. The design of the F50 was rather dumb IMO. The 550 Maranello and 360 Modena were much better looking cars IMO with some of those design elements from the F50

If you were talking mid engine top spec Ferrari, the F40 is the iconic car IMO, until Ferrari introduced the Enzo, which really took performance to the next level. Yes the F50 was slightly faster with an absolutely howling V12, but it looked rather lame IMO.

You know as a kid I never liked how the F40 looked, maybe it was the headlights that made it look like it's "sleepy". But as an adult, I appreciate that car very much!

I like the F40 better than the F50, hands down. Still one of the most badass cars of all time. The F50 was actually great too but the F40 was better and faster... My favorites are the F40 and the 512TR

Definitely don't think it's pretty. In fact, it looks downright ugly. Dated pillars and windows, boytoy spoiler, and zero luxury interior.

I actually like that feature on the F40 and F50. No bull**** gimmicks, they're basically street legal race cars(yeah I know neither has any real racing heritage though)

You drive them for an hour or two, put it back in the garage and think what a thrill that was. Its not a car for point a to b commuting, driving long distances, taking your mistress out to Kayne Prime Steakhouse and valet parking it, etc.

there's (at least) one relatively close to where i live and i'd seen it driving around a few times, and i was driving home from my friend's house one night and whaddya know, who do i see broken down!!!

i'd never been so sad to not have a pair of jumper cables, i could say that my LS had saved an F50!! guess only most of the planets were aligned that day not all of them... but yea it's an awesome car. i'm forever a mclaren f1 guy but don't get me wrong i became a geeky little 8 year old when i saw this that night
