A good example of this IMO is the LS400 and LS460 vs the LS430. The LS430 is more softly sprung than the LS400 and LS460, so in a straight line it rides slightly softer. HOWEVER, in any sort of corner or highway offramp, the 430 suffers from significant body lean and roll that the 400 and 460 don't suffer from, which makes the car feel much less confident in anything but a straight line. Then in a straight line, if you have to make a quick lateral movement, that roll is there and the car doesn't feel as solid.

So which car "rides better"? Having had all 3, I would say the LS400 and LS460 "ride better" than the LS430 because they have 95% of the straight line comfort with dramatically better solidity when turning.

I actually know some people (granted, not many) who refuse to buy or lease anything recent because they feel (with some justification) that everything today is either too stiff for them, or, if not, like the Mercedes S-class, just costs too much. So, they hold onto their old Caddy, Lincoln, or Buick and just keep putting money into them. Of course, nothing runs forever....one can only do that for so long.

My 04 LS430 hands down. Had her 5.5 years and am still astounded by how smooth, quiet, and comfortable she is. I don't drive her too much, she just sits in my garage. I drive my '03 Yukon mostly, enjoy the beefiness to it but once I get back in the LS I'm always blown away.
