Based on the dimensions given, this thing is about as tall as a Subaru Outback. That might be too short for a premium suv??

it has larger wheelbase than 2017 LS... is that short?

That size is already at the higher end of what will Europe and Japan buy, anything larger is going to be too big.

By “short” I meant the height is low. And I changed it to “Outback”. I’m just concerned that might be too low for a premium suv.

So the real question now is, what will the LF-1 production vehicle be called?

RX, NX, GX, LX, and seemingly UX are taken. QX, FX, and JX might still be trademarked by Infiniti. That leaves:

AX, BX, CX, DX, EX, HX, IX, KX, MX, OX, PX, SX, TX, VX, WX, XX, YX, ZX.

Just got back from the show.

The LF-1 Limitless is horrendously ugly. I didn't even wait to see the whole thing rotate around the stage.

super fast move into production? there were spy shots and renderings from guesses/hints a long time before release. maybe you're thinking of the LS+ concept which seems to have been shown long after the 5LS was locked in stone, plus the 5LS still isn't out yet.

I'm not talking about LS+ at all. Thanks to CMK1's great information, we know that the 5LS concept was shown after they already knew what the 5LS was going to look like for production.

There was an article written on the LF1 that it was built as if they were making it easy to go into production.

Lexus has registered "LQ".
On 7 May 2018, Toyota registered the LQ trademark in the United States, under Serial Number 87909977, for “automobiles and structural parts thereof”. But what is its significance or likely use? The fact that it’s two letters makes it, most likely, earmarked for Lexus, Toyota’s luxury marque. As such, it would designate the brand’s 13th current model line, and the 16th in its almost 30-year history.

L=Lexus’ fourth flagship line
As Lexus’ model line has grown and evolved, a pattern has emerged where a first letter “L” in the 2-letter prefix designates top-of-the-line, or flagship status. At present, a trio of lines occupy this hallowed status: the full-size (F-segment) LS (Luxury Sedan), the grand touring LC (Luxury Coupe) and the full-size luxury SUV LX (Luxury Crossover or Luxury Four Wheel Drive). An LQ would conceivably join their ranks as a fourth flagship line.

They should leave Q for Infiniti.

Lexus is not great with its model names as of late with no rhyme or reason to them - RC, NX, HS, UX, LC, CT, RXLetc.
Either the LC or RC should of been called SC!
NX should be IX or EX to follow sedan lineup.

Agree, this is going to be really confusing when a comparison comes up with a LQ500 vs QX70 vs Q7.

It should of been called the LX, and then rename the existing LX470 as TX470. Then all 3 Lexus flagships would be L and aligned with their derivatives: LC500, LS500, and LX500. RC400, IS400, RX400, etc.

But there are 4 flagships, not 3... LC, LS, LX and LQ.

Thats like changing LS name to TS and LC to LS, literally.

If the existing LX470 is a flagship, why hasn't it been fully updated in ages? Why is there a Toyco variant in the LC? I don't consider the LX at all a flagship. Unlike the LS, the LX is a derivative of the LC, which predates it.
