Default Lamborghini Urus (updated page.2)

The Lamborghini Urus is coming on December 4, just days after the end of the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Italian automaker's first SUV has been in development for years, but things are finally coming to a climax. Crossovers are hot, so we wouldn't be surprised at all if the Urus becomes Lamborghini's best-selling model. As such it needs to look, sound and drive like a vehicle worth of the charging bull badge. Thanks to YouTube channel Stateside Super Cars, we have some new video of the new Lambo lapping the Nürburgring.

The Urus will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 650 horsepower. This is likely to be a hopped-up version of Audi's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. In fact, you can see a new Audi A8 with that engine lapping the 'Ring just behind the Urus prototype. The video gives us a small taste of the exhaust note, giving a deep low burble with a few cracks and pops on lift-off.

The 'ute is still covered with a wrap, but you can make out the basic appearance. It doesn't look too far off the concept we saw a few years ago, with an aggressive roofline and a distinctly Lamborghini front fascia. Look for full details in just over a month.

sounds like an audi, looks like a reskinned audi.

Look how close the wheel well is to the front door, like a FWD layout.
cheap.

Lexus NX beat them to it with the lambo styling

I'm with you pman6, I don't see Lamborghini's DNA in the exterior, the front fascia and grill alone does not make it a Lamborghini. Where's the Lamborghini's exotic-ness like some pronounced curves and well, a few angles? The sides are flat like an Audi, yuck! As for headlights, another Audi parts-bin design.

Really? They are putting in a Audi 4.0 and going to charge 200k or even 300k+ for it???

A Lambo should get at least a V10 if not V12! Does this also means they are putting V8s in their cars in the future soon? Ohh my I’m disappointed!

Ah, the power of engine- and platform-sharing. There is no automaker better at sharing engines and platforms across its many brands than the VW Group.

That said, considering that the Urus shares a platform with Audi, VW, Porsche and Bentley SUVs, theoretically, any engine that is available in any of the Q7, Touareg, Cayenne and Bentayga could be used in the Urus, including the VW W12 engine.

An answer to a question nobody was asking though not as totally out of the ordinary and needless for a brand as a Lotus SUV.

Bentley uses a W12 on the Bentayga which makes it unique. This Lambo Urus appears to be adopting the VW family TTV8, what a shame, as the whole point of a Lambo (IMO) is the V10/V12 howl.

you mean the engine that used to be in the vw phaeton but nobody took a vw with a 12 cylinder seriously.

I meant in the sense that what other SUV offers anything north of 8 cylinders? Make it unique.

If they had only finished the Estoque and put it in production instead of this...but SUV's are outselling sedans/wagons and that's basically what counts the most with this move.

It is still a 12 cylinder which is very unique for a SUV, that 12 cylinder is also used in other Bentley models and a option for the A8.

It does not make it unique enough to get over the hideous awful looks of the Bentayga though.
