But then again, neither do you. At least CR has experience through direct testing of previous products and through its subscriber base of those vehicles. What information might you have that says otherwise?

CR has no data on the Tesla 3. Not sure how they can predict reliability. Perhaps they should give us their driving impressions without actually driving the car.

So you want CR to be a test drive site, is that correct? You want a version of CD, MT or all those online review sites that talk a lot about features, driving impressions and subjective likes/dislikes, all wrapped up in a package that says a few things but not a lot about how this product will age in the next few years?

Your critique is aimed at the wrong organization. I would be worried more about why Tesla has started a fight with CR and what's behind that as opposed to the current round of mud-slinging on this issue against CR. PR is a nasty sleazy business and it will happily throw anyone and anything that gets in the way under the bus.

sometimes things, like CR and walkers in the walking dead, deserve to end up under the bus.

no, not no matter what, they could be forthcoming and use real statistics, not waffling vagueness.

i don't know if CR rates cell phones, but have they declared the samsung note 8 'likely' to catch on fire or somehow 'below average in reliability' because its predecessor the note 7 had a bunch of such problems, was banned from planes and elsewhere, and was recalled? obviously the 7 and 8 both have samsung components, both have batteries, both have similar features, and are both uh phones. but if CR came out with a negative (or any) 'rating' for the new 8, without using one, without knowledge of electronics, and with NO consumer feedback, wouldn't that be absurd?

great example since Tesla has built exactly 2 models and Samsung has built slightly more cell phones models with only 1 blowing up, LOL

I'm hoping that was a cut-and-paste.

Agreed. Maybe just provide the link to that Samsung text. That's a lot of scrolling.
