Default 2019 Genesis G70 Debuts

The 3rd model in the Genesis lineup has debuted! Shares platform with the upcoming Kia Stinger, and powertrains as well, so expect a 2.0T and the 3.3T, RWD and AWD.

I think this is definitely the most sculpted Genesis yet, more shaping and curves into the sheetmetal, dare I say some personality. I think they're coming into their own. Good stance and wheel fitment, at least on these debut cars.

Now it's one of the most contested segments in the industry. BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS, Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Cadillac ATS, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Volvo S60, Lincoln MKZ, Acura TLX, Tesla Model 3, the Kia Stinger... and on and on and on. So we'll see how they do! Expected North American debut later this year, likely LA Auto Show.

Looks like an Infiniti Q50 on the outside and a BMW 3 on the inside...

It looks good. A mix between the infiniti Q50 and Kita optima. Nav screen is a bit too small for the luxury market, interior dash and nav combo remind me of mazda.

Not super crazy about the interior or the tail end, but otherwise I think it's a solid entry.

Similar reaction to the Stinger, at first I though wow that's pretty damn nice. But the more you look the more you realize it's a mishmash of styling cues and treatments. Won't age well.

i've realized it doesn't matter if a design ages well. car companies don't care about cars 5+ yrs old, they've moved on. they have to.

I have been impressed by the G70 and G90, this one is a little disappointing though. Interior does not impress me much, looks okay and kind of plain, exterior is very Infiniti like, wish the nose was lower and less fussy. I think I like the interior in the KIA stinger more, maybe the exterior more too.

Still a 3.3l 6 cylinder turbo putting out over 350hp in a RWD sedan likely priced less then all the competitors sounds like a great deal and a hell of a car. The more competition the better and will likely show how overpriced many other competitors are.

It's gorgeous! Interior is a bit minimalistic for my taste but it's a good starter.

But without dedicated dealerships the Genesis brand will be ignored by the targeted buyer.
Hate to sound like a snob but I don't want to be in the same service center as Hyundai Elantra owners.
Paying a premium for a luxury badge shouldn't come with any exceptions in my view.

Thanks for posting.

The exterior is quite handsome. The interior is not as plush-looking as either the G80 or G90, but I guess that is to be expected of a lower-line model with a lower price. It would help a lot if the designers put some wood or wood-tone in that big, plain-looking area above the glove box.

Agreed. The interior looks to be it's only downside thus far. From the photos I can't tell if that is an empty space below the HVAC controls or something else. And yes, a little splash of wood or carbon fiber wouldn't hurt.

The G80 styling is my favorite, and understandable why it sells over 30,000 units/month.
The G90 doesn't look quite right IMO, so I can understand why sales are relatively down.
This new G70 doesn't look quite right either IMO, esp the apex of the rear window up curvature ahead of the C pillar, and too many fussy creases on the bonnet too - I wouldn't be surprized if sales wasn't a cracker like the G80 midsize...

I assume you have a typo there. G80 sales are around 1,500 a month as I recall.

I meant on "debut" as Hyundai Genesis.
Midlife now, the G80 is falling and falling.
