Lexus needs to get the basics right first before going for fluffs like a sleek roofline, super aggressive suspension geometries, etc., or they'll keep losing more and more sensible customers, which constitute the vast majority of the market.
The Lexus NX is a good example of this. WAY more cramped in the rear seat room and behind the rear seat than the Rav4 its based on, despite being the same damn size externally.

You couldn’t have said this any better ,the LS just can’t seem to get it right ,They really need to go back to basics

huge ugly front (and rear on rx) overhangs are just wasted length and thus the interior is compromised.

If the Rx is based on a highlander platform I guess the nx is based on a rav V

I find it baffling that the IS has more front headroom than the new LS, for instance. But also, I take the front-to-rear-seat measurements with a grain of salt, since I think it partially depends on the seat adjustment potential.

Having driven the car, the low front roofline is a significant issue I agree

I’m tall myself and I can’t fit in any 460 comfortably like can in my 430,...i wanted to upgrade to. 2013 LS But I don’t think the choice makes logical sense

How tall are you? LS460 is a little lower to stoop into, but headroom wise you should be fine.

6'5" is pretty tall. I had a 98 LS400, and the LS400 and LS430 are more upright, so they feel like they're taller and have more headroom. Personally I find that once I'm in the car my head has about the same amount of room left above it as it did in the LS400 and LS430. The 460 is "lower" and the doors aren't limousine doors like they are in the LS400 (meaning they don't open up into the roof crossmember) so entry feels like you have to crane your neck a little bit when you get in. Remember too the 460 has side curtain airbags, so the headliner is beefier, A pillars are beefier, etc.

Driver's headroom:

98 LS400: 39.0"
17 LS460: 38.0"
18 LS500: 37.3"

As far as overall space, my SWB LS460 had more legroom, space overall than my LS400, but not more than my LS430. The LWB LS460 has way more space than either.

Haven't seen anyone mention the AMCI comparison test of the LS500 F-Sport & S560 w/ AMG Package yet:

^^^ interesting... lexus commissioned the 'independent' testing (comes across more like a commercial, and comments are disabled) and in the description it says:

Better Handling and Braking Performance than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (1) …and including the following sub-claims:
Better Handling Performance — on Wet or Dry Pavement — than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (1)
Better Cornering Performance — on Wet or Dry Pavement — than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (1)
Better Slalom Performance — on Wet or Dry Pavement — than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (1)
Better Evasive Action / Emergency Double Lane Change Performance — on Wet or Dry Pavement — than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (1)
Better Braking Performance than the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S560 AMG Line (2)
seems lexus definitely wanted the sporty credentials verified
