Default New Ride

The CX-5 had served me well, but I missed having a sedan. I wanted something comfortable, fuel efficient and a tech fest. Tesla obviously ticked all the boxes, but where I live the infrastructure isn't ready and I don't have a 240V charger at home. Decided the next best thing was a hybrid/phev. Two immediately came to mind, the GS450h and the 530E. Both had comfort and fuel efficiency in spades, but the BMW blew the Lexus out of the water for tech. The gulf was massive in that front, better HUD, more electric range, incredible 360 camera etc... Even though Lexus is close to my heart and I was getting a better deal from them I went with the BMW. It took almost an hour to go through all the gizmos and settings with the delivery specialist, but it was well worth it.

Nice! Love the seat color.

I don't know much about the 530e.... Plug-in? Range? EPA mpg?

Congrats! We autocrossed the new 540's in the rain at a BMW event this year, and the size was manageable (considering it was a timed event). jmo, G30 > F10

Yeah its a plug-in. Over the past couple of days I've averaged 13-15 miles on pure electric drive, more than enough range on my daily commute.

Nice ride! I'm sure you'll enjoy it more and more once you get accustomed to all that tech.

It's amazing that Toyota does not get that people want the plug in part for their antiquated hybrids.

That new BMW is just sensational. I test drove one and it completely changed my perception of BMW. Enjoy!!!!

It’s even crazier that the 530e xdrive is only $4500CAD more than the regular 530i xdrive. It’s a no brainer to upgrade. The GS450h is $7000 more than the regular gs when similarly equipped

Great choice! PHEV is definitely the best with today's infrastructure and technology.

Congratulations. I agree with Hoovey that is a nice color.

I'm not sure what BMW calls it, but other manufacturers used to call it Gunmetal or Gunmetal Blue. Always been one of my favorites, though the lighter shades of it can be difficult to match for body-work, if painting is needed.
