Any speculation about the engine? Still classic pushrod or have they gone to DOHC?

Speculation/Rumor is that this will introduce the new DOHC engine GM has been working on. It will be interesting to see if GM can keep the overall engine size in check or if it will become a huge engine like the Ford OHC offerings. One of the great things about the LS/LT is the huge cubic inches in such a compact package.

Even though it's clearly departing from the long-standing Corvette tradition of Front-Engine/RWD, I'd still bet on push-rods. The Corvette faithful (mostly, but not totally, male Baby-Boomers about my age, who grew up with early Corvettes) will demand it. But, we'll see.

I'll probably get a chance to at least briefly test-drive one when the first ones come in to my area, if they aren't already spoken for or pre-ordered for someone else. I'm on good terms with my local Chevy/Buick/GMC place. Usually, if I want to test-drive anything on the lot, they just toss me the key/fob and a dealer-plate.

It has the looks of something along the lines of an NSX and Ferrari. Should be interesting to see how this transpires. Bad business move if chevy gets rid of the Corvette completely but i highly doubt that will happen

I'd be for DOCH if they can get significantly more horsepower from the same displacement as the current pushrod design. I don't want to see a smaller displacement DOCH design with similar or maybe slightly better power figures than the current large displacement push-rod design. IE if you are doing DOCH, make it big displacement as well, at least 6.0 liters, even better would be 7.0 liters like the 505hp LS7 in the 2007 Corvette Z06(still my favorite engine among the late model Corvettes)

Yeah, it's possible we'll see DOHC on this one, but, like I said above, the Corvette faithful would probably frown on it. It is already a huge departure from the traditional front-engine/RWD design that the purists loved. And, though not universal by any means, Corvettes, on the average, often get an older buyer-base that is little-concerned with high-tech designs.

Honestly if the DOCH motor still had that off the line low end torque grunt, I don't think the current Vette enthusiasts would care. Big displacement has always been the hallmark of Corvette engines, keep that, increase the power with DOCH, make it rev higher, as long as it still has that low end grunt and extremely wide and flexible power-band of the current motors, the traditionalists won't care about pushrod vs DOCH. Keep in mind the Corvette went DOCH back in 1990 with the ZR1. It was pricey, but the performance rivaled that of the current top of the line Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

How much they would charge if corvette is going mid-engine? To me corvette is always a bargain super powerful American sports car that has the best performance to value. I doubt a mid-engine would start less than 100k and climbs over 200k, then it would just be a Chevy halo car that only few could afford. This is not corvette for Americans then?!
