Are you moving?

Many people simply tow their car behind a rental-truck.

I've used reliable three times. Michigan to within Michigan, Michigan to Texas, Texas to Kansas . First time was on an open trailer. The next two times a closed trailer. Every time there was no damage. I chose the closed trailer the last two times because I wanted a clean car. As expected, bugs and dust from the open haulers. They were always very professional. There drivers work for reliable, they are not sourced out. I think that is an important thing.

We used enclosed Reliable transport for all of our fleet transfer needs.

I've used Reliable many times and never had a problem with them. What I like about Reliable is that they allow scheduling direct shipments (although of course, there's a premium); they have also allowed me to work with certain driver teams, so I always deal with the same drivers (but some schedule flexibility is required for this). It does help if you have a direct contact at Reliable because some of their junior phone staff seem harried at times.

Unfortunately, I have had at least one bad experience with every other car shipper I've used.

not everyone wants to or has the time to drive 3000 miles, which was why i asked for transport recommendations, not pictures of a uhaul, but thanks.

thanks for recommendations on reliable, i did online quote for them... they want $2700 which is probably half what the car is worth, lol, so that's not going to work.

anything cheaper? as i said, this is not a 'precious' car.

For something cheaper I would try uShip. I don't have any personal experience with them but I have clients that have shipped cars using their marketplace with no problems.

The cheapest way to get the car to CA might be to pay someone responsible (retiree?) to drive it. They'd have the cost of transportation back to FL for the driver though. Maybe for a $6k car it's just not worth it?

Just wait for self driving tech to arrive, and send the car on its way.

Honestly, I would, but after running the numbers, I probably can't get any cheaper than the big shipping co's... Covering my fuel and expenses only would be about $1500. They might even be cheaper than I am at the big companies based off sheer volume. I do what's called "Specialty vehicle transport" so cars from auctions to clients, private sales etc, of very valuable cars. Most of the clients I ship for happily pay the extra for me because I am a one man show and I take extra care to ensure the safety of the car.

Be that as it may, by the time I get my trailer and drive to FL, I am already at least $500 in fuel. My business model allows for me to calculate fuel and expenses into my price quotes so that I charge the client enough to make a profit, and clear overhead.
