Lexus 5GS spy ****s???

I can live with that. Platform migration will really spruce up the Lexus line. But in regards to Atkinson and Otto cycles, it's an impressive feat. I'd like to see the dual cycle technology on more vehicles. Migrate this engine to GA-L platform on the 4IS, and at some point the 2.0T will be making north of 270hp from its current 241hp state. Should be spunky. In fact the 5GS might utilize it first on a GS300. It'll be the volume model, while that GS400/450/500 sporting the TTV6 in F-Sport form will be the lustworty supermodel. People are going to complain but the 5GS will firmly push some F-Sport and Luxury trims past $60k. A typical 2017 GS350 F-Sport RWD is being built at a $59K level. MY2019 is shaping to be an exciting model!

1) 270hp 2.0 Turbo.
2) 400hp 3.5 V6 TT.
3) 525hp GSF V8 TT- top of the line engine for LS and LC (leave the supposed 600hp+ V8 for the LSF and LCF, if there ever will be one)
4) 354hp 3.5 Hybrid.

and what year do you expect a 5GS with all those engine options to be available? i just don't see it happening before 2022.

I would not mind those numbers at all, I would certainly target the V6 TT just for affordability instead of getting a used F

The only engine that may or may not exist is the supposed V8TT. The 2.0t, hybrid as well as the 3.5TT is already in existence no? Comes down to when the next GS is out, if there ever will be one again.

Lag is still present in sport mode.....also, engine is not fuel efficient as one would have thought unless you baby it. Highest MPG I have ever gotten in 11 months of ownership is 21....I drive it normal/sporty so I get 18 to 19 MPG on average; therefore, it's no more efficient than an IS350 which is superior in every way.

I will test drive my missus IS200t again, and see if the Atkinson cycle off in Sport Mode makes any difference.

However, I find my GS350 smoother than my wife's IS200t at low rpm pottering around town.
At high rpm, I find my wife's 200t much smoother to rev than my GS350; my 3.5 V6 is much more powerful, but rougher than the multiple 3.0 V6's I've had in the past.

I'm just guessing at the atkinson cycle off. It feels much snappier off the line and mid throttle passes are less of an earful.

Can't wait to see what they do with the next GS. Everything they have produced after the current GS debuted has been pretty wild in the styling department. Could be just what the GS needs to stand out a little and make an impression.
