Congrats! I looked at the very car you purchased when it was new and wished I could own one. Enjoy it!

Sweet when you're able to DIY most stuff....for the rest of us, it's great to have found that indie that is expert and will install customer parts....(got those checked off for Lexus and BMW)....keep us posted as you get this car ready to rock! Again, just my opinion, some of the cars made around 2004-2009 maybe '10 are likely the best ever made, I think just a function of the economy...

i agree, and some of the best looking Mercedes came out at that time. Now car manufacture lineups are starting to all look the same just different sizes.

freshly washed for the first time in a bit, wheels had gotten pretty dirty

i'm really liking this car so far... the torque is absolutely ridiculous! unbelievable how easily you can just instantly change where you are on the road regardless of speed or gear selection, this thing is the ultimate sleeper lol

Still super jelly, the E55(especially in wagon form) is one of my all time favorite AMG models. Maybe its the supercharger and insane power, but I swear the car its based on is one Benz's better designs IMO, much better quality wise than the early-mid 00's S-class, C-class, and CLK, a lot prettier than the square "nerd eyed" E-class that followed it IMO.

Default How much power does a 402,000 mile Mercedes E55 AMG still make?

Thought the OP would enjoy this article.

Owning a 400,000 mile 2003 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG sounds like everything you’ve ever been told not to do. But if you must (and if you're like us, you must) what kind of power might an engine in good condition be making?

Originally, the supercharged sedan made 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque at the crank. YouTuber Alex Palmeri happened to have access to an over 400,000 mile E55 AMG, and ran it on a dyno to see how all those miles affected it.Power at the wheels of the Benz when it was new should have been around 385 hp and 423 lb-ft of torque if an 18 percent power loss through the drivetrain is taken into account. After three pulls, the E55 produced the following results:

1. 366 hp and 372 lb-ft of torque
2. 362 hp and 416 lb-ft of torque
3. 362 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque

According to the final run, our math shows the original engine in this AMG is somehow making more torque than quoted from the factory when new -- an astounding 547 lb-ft. Horsepower is dangerously close as well, sitting at 441. We don’t know exactly what type of maintenance has been done to this Mercedes, but Palmeri says it’s been serviced at a Mercedes dealer its whole life and still retains the original engine.

The longevity and durability of this motor is quite spectacular if it’s taken care of, clearly. We’re afraid to know how much money has gone into making it what it is today however. The first time Palmeri tried to dyno this car, it broke … how much longer till that happens again?

After reading this thread I thought about this video. Those AMG models are fun but boy oh boy, they can cost a small fortune to keep problem free.

foward past the ad to :32

Not surprised that the car is worth so little. So many people fail to realize that luxury cars depreciate very fast. Also, there are a number of things that are not working.

I had seen a funny video where a guy had the SL AMG from about 2003 or 04, and he said let me drive to the dealer and see how much they're going to recommend in service, I think maybe $6k, but let's see....then he went to pick up his car and they told him he can't film inside the dealership (c'mon now I think that's arbitrary, you can film anything nowadays)....he gets a "report" that's hundreds of pages long, I think they were recommending like $16k off the bat, but a lot was not known, and the tech personally told him he should get rid of the car lol

I got a kick when they told him the tranny might fail, he goes he has no idea why they would say that, and his video cuts to him launching at a drag strip....

When you think about it, though, how could a car from only 2004 say, not be serviceable realistically? I drove the non AMG version of that car, at an event, and it was insanely beautiful....I remember it had started to rain so MB began closing the tops...

edit just looked online as my buddy is in the market (Lexus, Audi, MB), MB's CPO is only 1 year beyond the 4 yr. bumper to bumper, imho that's not standing behind one's products, rather interesting. I assumed a CPO is by default 2 yrs, 100k.
