SEMA 2017 Hurst Trans-Am
I'm generally not into the type of displays shown off at SEMA (most of them just aren't my cup of tea)......but this one is gorgeous. Wouldn't be surprised if Burt Reynolds and Sally Field themselves drove it into the show LOL.
Apparantly, it can be special-ordered from the existing Camaro SS platform....from an aftermarket firm.

Given that brand-new top-level Camaros, nowadays, run 60-70K out the door, and that a conversion like that would probably run at least an additional 30-40K, I'd bet you are talking at least six figures for it.

So that's the same ugly as **** "Trans Am" aftermarket conversion that's been floating around by various manufactures on the 5th gen Camaro platform since 2010 or so. Absolutely hate the 5th gen Camaro, hate the 6th gen as well, both are as ridiculous as the 1998 "New Beetle" and 2000 PT Cruiser IMO. Changing the front/rear clips, putting on some "trans am" wheels, and dressing it up like late 2000's take on a late 1970's Trans Am is utter garbage. I really wish GM would look to the future with the styling of the Camaro, instead of it being some sort stupid "Transformers" take on the original 1967 car. I mean the Mustang, yes its kind of retro inspired, but it looks modern IMO, it takes the basic 1967 fastback shape and puts it into the 21st century, with good ergomics and visibility. The Camaro looks like a cartoon version of a 1969 Camaro, but with way worse visibility and horrid ergonomics.

I agree. I cannot even get in and out of the 5-6th gen Camaro without banging my head on something and once inside, it feels claustrophobic and **** poor build quality/layout. And I am just over 6" so not even that tall at all.
I cannot believe they made the current model with the same issues and didn't address those "rat rod" windows.

I'd also argue the gauge package in the 4th gen was far superior to that stupid mickey mouse retro crap in the 5th gen. Also, the 5th gen steering wheel was rather poorly designed, its hard to grip the spokes at 9 and 3, they're too fat and oddly mishapen.

Well, so far, it looks like I'm in the minority on the car's looks. I like it....especially in that chocolate-brown paint job with the gold trim. The brown/gold, IMO, looks better than the traditional black/gold. Of course, it is not a real Trans-Am from Pontiac, but let's face it....the real T/A's came from the same F-Body platform the Camaros did, so I don't see where that is an issue.

Absolutely love this! The company started as a retrofit builder transplanting modern Chevy small blocks into vintage Trans-Ams and Z-28s. They then got Burt Reynolds to sign-on and market the Bandit cars. All very high quality and tastefully done! The latest T/As are built on the new Camaro platform. The cost seems astronomical to me considering it will take 20 or more year for these cars to appreciate, if they ever do...
