Sports cars are fun once in a while on a canyon-carving road (or, in my case, as an occasional review)....but I wouldn't want to live with one as a daily-driver. Too low-slung (difficult entry/exit), too stiff-riding, too cramped, too noisy, insurance too high, practically worthless in winter or on slippery roads (in some cases, even with traction-aids), and too impractical for carrying anything. Many people who own them also have another vehicle in the family that they can actually use.

Thanks Debbie Downer. Some people enjoy them every drive, aren't challenged to get in and out, don't find them too stiff, cramped, love the noise, etc. but a car like this is obviously not for YOU.

My NSX has AWD, magnetic ride and lots of room (for 2).

With the second set of wheels and Pirelli Sotto Zero 3 tires at all corners, the car is excellent 12 months a year.

Sports cars can have some utility.

Of course they are fun in the right circumstances for it (nice weather, twisty roads, canyon.carving, etc.....)...I made that clear in my post. But living with one as a daily driver, without another more practical vehicle to use as a back-up, can be another matter.

And, BTW, I managed to CRAM myself in and out of a Lotus Elise, and do a full-review (a truly funny experience, I'll admit..you would have had to see it to believe it)...a vehicle substantially smaller and more cramped than even a Miata. The salesperson thought it was impossible for a person my size.....he was sure I couldn't do it (and he sold those cars for a living). He was (almost) right. But...where there's a will, there's a way.

your 'insight' is that you made it clear you couldn't live with such a car as your main car, but the point i was making (which you don't seem to accept) is that others can.

Was the Miata your only car, or did you also have an Explorer (now a JGC) for when you actually needed to carry something? If you Explorer actually replaced your Miata instead of being in addition to it (I don't remember), then, fine, you have a point.

And, of course, at least to some extent, we've wondered off the main topic...the new Corvette.
