Did you Lease or Buy ?

A vendor took us out to dinner last week, and on the screen at the bar, were advertisements for cars, $2899/mo., etc. We were all laughing. It wouldn't surprise me if there are folks on this thread, or at least Club Lexus, who can and do afford such a payment.

What car were they advertising with a $2,899 payment?!?

Many rich people lease RRs, Bentleys, even cars like 911 Turbos and top spec Range Rovers, top spec MBs like G63 AMG etc.
These are a dime a dozen in wealthy areas.

I was off by $100/mo., just googled the dealer and it was for a Huracan, and you can only drive 7,500 miles? Again, I say we were all laughing, but there must be clientele who look up after having a 25 y.o. scotch, and say, huh, not too shabby?

I don't know....you know you're in good company when you overhear they're concerned the jet isn't billing the projected hours YTD, or that they had an issue last time at Augusta...lol (it's great at least to be exposed to such folks, right?)

I do agree with you, meaning there's zero enjoyment factor, it's a business decision....one thing off the bat is a 12 yr. life for accounting, and in reality, driving the new buses 30+ years...lol
Hey would you believe this, I pulled a Benjamin Franklin out of thin air this AM.....logged into my cable account, went to the page where you would update your choices. It reflected a $4 discount with our existing 2 set top boxes (didn't have this discount prior). The tab on the top reflected a "new" plan at $4/mo. less, and stated no change to the recent 2 yr. contract. So what the hey I checkout and place the order, which would take effect next billing cycle. This lowers my bill by $4.48/mo. times 23 remaining months, all for doing nothing....why do I feel good about $102 and change? Because I want to minimize anything and everything I'm paying to the phone/cable co, out of $16/mo in taxes and fee, only $5 are state mandated and legit.....lol

You would be surprised. The same Lease v Purchase debate happens in the lambo forums. It seems a little skewed towards leasing since there is a higher proportion of business owners in that income bracket so it makes more sense to write off the monthly as deductible business expense. Since you "work with" people, I'm guessing they are employers instead of employees? That might be the reason for them. My buddy leases his i8 and his Aventador, writes them off and enjoys a reasonable monthly payment.

btw I hate that lizard co.....I had them, and when I needed a new windshield on the BMW, because it cracked in the driver's view, the lady/girl argued with my saying I could try a repair first....it took about 40 min. on the phone before they finally agreed to an OEM replacement. I just figure if I'm paying a deductible, what do I care if the glass is $700, or $149, right?
My LS430 has original Lexus laminated glass. Even though I have the co. with the hands today, I have a feeling they won't agree to Lexus glass either. The agent when he sold the policy assured me that wouldn't happen, but I still have my doubts....I like having an agent, for real. I have tried to shop around and seem to be at a point where everyone else is higher....
edit just saw your sig....dag you fellas have sweet rides! In the F, I prefer the M3 to the M4. I'm happy with my E92 335i, I think it's in a sweet spot for TCO, although it would have been nice to have been able to swing a E92 M3.....

I'm after anything and everything, seriously, it's mental I suppose...instead of $12/mo. each, for 2 set top boxes, $10/mo. lol Just like that the cable/phone co. gets less.....then multiply times 23 mos. with tax....$102.xx.

Well...I've never had Geico, but you've gotta admit that the commercial showing Jesse the cowboy getting knocked off his horse by the Geico sign was pure gold.
How much more does a Lexus windshield cost? Is there any benefit, other than the Lexus name in the corner?

I would only accept a Lexus branded windshield personally. Only way to know it's met QC to the same level

Per the IRS rule, you can only write off the lease IF its used for business purposes. Such as delivery, transport... wonder what business he is in for a Lamborghini and i8 and how he explains it to the IRS if audited

His business is racing/motorsports related so that helps. I write it off on my business because of how often I drive between locations. It's a % I believe, but you would have to ask my accountant about the math.
