Audi Q7 2017 or 2018. Please help!
Anyone here own the new Audi Q7? I have been doing research with the problem of the super charge clutch that made noise and some had been replace by the dealership. This 3.0 super charge had been out for decade and still having problem. Some said this engine is a gem. What is the reliability of the Audi these day. Also, how is the electrical issues on Audi? Can some one please give advice should you get the 2017 save about 3k or get the 2018 might be some bugs that iron out. The 2018 is arrive around Summer and selling as Msrp.Any input is appreciated. Have great Easter! Thank you!

I don't have one, but we have multiple members here with Audis and they've had no issues. The new Q7 is really nice, I see no reason to wait for a 2018 if you have a good deal in front of you now on a 2017.

So on a Lexus Forum, you ask about buying an Audi? Maybe nice car. But the 3 we drove had the same identical rattle somewhere near the left rear door. I think it was in the door. No spare tire, no low range. Just wouldn't do the mission for us. The maint costs of Audi is an issue as well. Similar to most European cars, I guess. Have friends who drive them, they love them. One who is a retired Audi Tech. He made a very good living working on Audi's. Another friend just put 20K into their A6 @ 100k miles. Turbo's and Trans. I was told that's common. Neighbor across the street has had 3 A4's. He spent more every year on them, than I have spent in the last 15 on all my cars. Really nice cars, but you don't want one out of warrantee.

To be fair, this is the Car Chat section of CL. I see no issue with asking about experiences with an Audi here.

HI Ethan! Even though I have not owned a Lexus since 2007, this is by far the absolute best car community. Great people and knowledge... and lots of posting activity. We researched the Q7 and Volvo XC90 for almost 12 months before purchasing. We picked up our Q7 Prestige in November of 2016 and have about 8000 miles on it now. Could not be happier with the car - it drives like no other 7 seater suv. I cannot believe how it handles - you feel glued to the road. I wish Audi had better colors and sharper styling like Lexus, and the third row is a little small for adults but in this price range for a 7 seater I find nothing compares. It is so quiet, completely trouble free - no issues like you mentioned. The 2018 order guide is up - next to no changes at all, certainly not worth the wait. Feel free to ask any specific questions you have. If you take a browse at Audi World forums actual complaints are almost non existent - as opposed to swedespeed(also a great community) for roughly the same number of XC90's in the wild as the Q7 the problems you will read about there will make your head spin. Over the past 3 or 4 months there seems to be sharply less XC90 complaints as software roll outs have resolved many of the issues. Good luck and keep us posted!

The supercharged 3.0 V6 is pretty bulletproof. It's been run much harder in other models without any issues. I just sold my 2012 S4, with the same engine, and had zero issues with the drive train for 93,000 miles. Many people have put tunes and supercharger pulley upgrades on them, and the engine has run like a champ. I googled the supercharger clutch issue and it seems Audi has a replacement part for it, so if you buy the car under warranty, it shouldn't really be a concern.

I highly recommend you invest in Consumer Reports. All your questions about reliability can be seen there. Generally speaking, most modern Audi models fair very well. But, like all other German makes, you should never own one without a warranty. They are very expensive to maintain and service once they reach 4-5 years old.
