Not surprising that the Impala now leads its class in sales ....after a slow start. The word is finally getting out about what a superb change it is from previous-generation, rental-grade versions. When I reviewed a new one a few years ago, I thought it was the best new Impala I had seen since my college days in the 1970s......over 40 years ago.
Also not surprising the Kia Soul is doing so well. It offers a heck of a lot for the money.

I believe it is mainly because the average buyer wont understand fwd, rwd, etc. When they walk into the showroom, it is difficult to ignore than the ES is just as good a mid sized sedan as the GS, and actually has more rear leg room and trunk space (?), while costing thousands less. It all boils down to this.

Nice list TangoRed. Some things that stood out to me.
- Ford vans - (Transit Connect and Transit) crushed it
- Lexus RX - 109,435 units... Spindle hasn't deterred anyone
- Lexus NX - much need to make up for the Lexus sedan slump
- Jeep Grand Cherokee - 212,273 units... crushed it and crushed it again. 2nd place was Ford Edge with 134,588 units
- Jeep Renegade also a strong showing for the subcompact CUV's

GS sales discussion has been beaten to death over the years.
It doesnt sell for 1 Main Reason : ES, which is bigger, cheaper and to 80% of people just as luxurious.
Until the bean counters get rid of it, the GS chassis is being wasted. If GS had enough sales volume, a case could be made for a 4door coupe and a sporty SUV based on the GS chassis.
But at end of the day its a helluva lot easier snd safer to keep selling those ESs by the boatload!
Continental is off to a decent start, imagine if Ford/Lincoln actually invested some $$$ into it and put it on a RWD platform with 5.0 V8 from Mustang and new 10speed Auto! Hopefully new Navigator will be a hit as well.
