Used vehicle finance/purchase
Would it be wise to finance/purchase a 2014 Subaru Forester with over 160k km on the odo?
I know Subaru's are built well and do last a while. Does Subaru offer extended warranties past 160k km?
Is it even wise to finance a used car with so many km on the odo or is it wise to find something with half the km and just $7k more?

I'd look at something with fewer miles (oops...km) on it. Subarus are generally well-built, but their engines don't seem to run as long as Hondas or Toyotas without problems. Older 2.5L Subaru non-turbo flat-fours are notorious for head-gasket failure, allowing oil and coolant to mix, and the newer 2.0L and 2.5L engines can develop premature oil-consumption from ill-fitting piston rings. Newer Subarus also come with the CVT transmissions that, while far more more flexible than the old dated four-speed automatics they replaced, don't seem to last as long, either. In contrast, though, Subarus are generally reliable in other areas, have one of the best car-based AWD systems ever designed, and are a breeze to drive through winter conditions. The Forester, in addition, is extremely space-efficient and has good outward visibility compared to most vehicles today.

i would never buy a used car with 160k km / 100k mi unless i knew the owner. too much risk.

While the 14 Forrester is a solid car, I'm not entirely sure what kind of $$ you'd have to put in the car to get it in good reliable condition. At 160km I'd change out the spark plugs, tranny flush, coolant flush, have a close look at the suspension....that there is ~$500-$700, plus whatever else comes out.
Good news is for a 2.5 year old car to get that many km/miles means a lot of highway driving so consistent driving speeds, not the more wear & tear city driving with frequent stop & go.
You could get financed, it just better be one heck of a deal =)

Do the bank even offer financing for a car with many miles? Or unless it's those dealers with inhouse finance. At least that's what I see in Nevada.
That being said, I would def go with lower miles with more money, because extended warranty are generally offered up to 100k miles.
