Default Long term car rental ideas?

My sister came to see me from out of country and decided to stay for at least six months.
Problem is she needs a car and i am not sure how to go about it.
I cant lease since its two year minimum and rental companies charge crazy numbers.
Anybody experienced this? any feedback will be appreciated.

Take over a lease with the number of months you need through lease trader or swap a lease?

Buy a cheap used car that won't depreciate a lot in the year or so that she needs it?

Yes, talking over a lease is called a lease assumption that can be done for as low as six months. Here's some more information on the short-term leasing:

buy a used car with decent to low miles, great price retention and resell it after she leaves? Not sure if you are in that position or not, but a decent used car can be had for a reasonable price.

Just buy an used Japanese car around 2-3K range, drive for 6 months and sell it for around the same price.

Buy a used Yaris or Corolla. Stay away from salvaged ones since they'll be a hard sell.
