Elderly woman accidentally drives on top of a Toyota Prius, hits the gas instead of the brake

Thread title is fairly misleading... the Prius didn't do anything wrong

Maybe the title should be "SUV humps innocent Prius in parking lot. Onlookers snap shots for social media." ?

Another elderly person confused with, brake is on the left and gas is on the right....wait is that right? Is it the other way??
Confusion with age is coming for all of us. Some do better than others. I fear the worst for myself.

thread title clarified.

someone i know just mistook pedals and 'took off' out of their driveway, right across the street into a tree in the neighbor's lot across the road. car was 3 months old. it was $42k new. insurance didn't total it - shelled out $28k to fix.

Happens more than people think....and not just with elderly people. A car wash employee in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, coming out out of a car wash in my neighborhood, ran away out of the car wash lane, across a four lane highway complete with concrete median, and took out two other cars and a gas pump at a station (fortunately, no explosion). Took months to get the pump replaced, as it had to be special-ordered.

I kind of like the stance and rake of the Prius now.

I once saw (not actually in person, but it happened at my work) something I thought people only did in movies and on TV.

Back in college I worked as a lot attendant at a chevy dealer. The manager of the Isuzu branch of the dealership had ordered a custom yellow C6 vette. After the weeks of waiting it finally arrived. He went to the delivery lot to personally inspect the vehicle, only to watch as another lot attendant back it up away from the truck while the driver door was open. I think you can guess what happened next. Yep, he pulled a Chris Farley and ripped the door off on another vehicle (not a gas pump). I still remember the tales of how other people there described the Isuzu manager's face moments after it happened.

About 20 years ago I was walking out of the supermarket and thought "let me go get a video". As I was walking in front of the big glass window of the store a car parked in front of the video store started it's engine. Just as I started to walk in front I first heard the high revving and thought "what the heck is that guy doing?" and no sooner had I turned my head that reviving was the sound of the car coming over the curb/sidewalk of the video store at me. You better believe I became Michael Jordan and jumped out of the way. Luckily the old gent stopped two inches of the glass pane windows before crashing through.

They fixed it up but of course the manager didn't want it anymore. So for months it sat on the lot while countless (by corvette standards) sold. Once each customer was given the info about the crash they lost all interest. Between the costs of repairs and massive discount they eventually gave to sell it, the dealership lost some big bucks for a single unit.

Edit: forgot to say the lot attendant kept his job, got a big *** chewing then sent back to work.
