Now this is a real attempt at challenging the incumbents.

I absolutely loved the Giulia. The handling, dynamics and power are tremendous, even for the base 2.0 turbo trims. I'd say it has the best acceleration (vs other 2 liter turbos), steering, braking, handling in that segment (3 series, A4, C-Class, IS, XE, etc). Fastest production sedan on the Nurburgring. They initially timed it at 7:39 with a Manual Transmission Quadrifoglio, and then the new Panamera Turbo came in at 7:38. Alfa went back with the Automatic Transmission and came in at 7:32. That's blazingly fast! Faster than Lamborghini Gallardo, faster than the LF-A, you get the picture.

Every time I see an Alfa grille, I can't help but think of the Edsel LOL.

As an avid BMW guy this seems to be the true successor to the E90. BMW went mass-market with the F30 as far as driving dynamics are concerned.

I saw a few of these at an auto show as well as one wrapped up in a parking lot. Small, compact, yet very handsome sedan. Knowing Alfa though, it will likely be plagued by quality issues especially those involving electronics. Additionally, the interior will trail the Germans and Lexus/Infiniti in quality of materials and build quality.

Pricing to start at $38,990 (including destination) for the Giulia, $40,990 for the uplevel Ti, and then $73,595 for the Quadrifoglio.

I love this car. Nice touch on the start button mounted to the steering wheel, very Ferrari-like.

That's not bad for an Alfa in that class.....but Alfa can't afford to ask too much at first, especially considering the long-established popularity of what it's going up against in sales...the 3-Series, C-Class, Lexus IS, and A4.

i really wanted this to succeed. alfa makes some of world's most beautiful cars and now they're likely going to pull out of the north american market once again and not due to mechanical issues, rather because they just aren't selling.

Nearly 1k Giulas were sold in the U.S. last month which doesn't seem too bad. This news is not what they need. After the Alfa enthusiasts who want one have theirs, the key will be drawing in new customers. Not looking too promising right now.

It's pretty weird reading the forum and people bragging that they've driven 400 Miles and not a single issue like that's something to be proud of. The most I've seen is "I've driven 4500 miles and not one issue these negative reviews are overrated". Are these people serious?

Congratulations to your friend......and best of luck to his new car , though anyone who has done even an ounce of homework will know that Italian-designed cars are a gamble on reliability. You buy one knowing (or, at least, should be knowing) that there will be a greater-than-average chance of having problems.
