Default Clarkson terminated from Top Gear

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC "following a fracas" with a producer.
The corporation said the presenter had been suspended "pending an investigation".
"No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday," it said.
Clarkson was given what he called his "final warning" last May after claims he used a racist word while filming the popular BBC motoring show.
At the time, he said the BBC had told him he would be sacked if he made "one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time".

Let's see what happens to the show's ratings now. Firing someone is one thing. Living with the consequences of a firing is sometimes quite another.

Agreed. Obviously no one is saying what happened here, but one thing is certain - the ratings will plummet without Clarkson on the show.

I hope the ratings plummet and cost BBC a ton of money.

Last year, Danny Cohen told Clarkson "no one is bigger than the BBC". Sure, but you might find yourself making a lot less money after you fire big people.

Does Clarkson even care? There's a laundry list of TV networks that would hire him in a heartbeat.

oh please, he will just get a slap on the wrist and he will be back on soon enough. BBC has too much to lose without Clarkson.

They would have to be crazy to axe him permanently. If they do though, they should hire Chris Harris . He is a better journalist and is still funny.

He is, but you're missing the point of top gear. Its a comedy show about cars. Chris is to serious and would ruin top gear.

not sure why you feel that way (man crush? ). perhaps it depends on what he did as to whether he deserved it.

This was the only way BBC could get people to talk about Top Gear, and increase show ratings.

Yes, agreed....suspension is just a temporary firing. What I was generally referring to, though, was ratings in his absence. Clarkson is not necessarily my cup of tea, but I know that he has a lot of fans (including some of those here on Car Chat) who regularly watch his show. (I do read his columns, though, in the the Top Gear magazine, which I get from a British friend of mine).
