Default Another test mule sighting from I8ABMR . Lets see if we can guess.

Caught these two mules during lunch. When I walked up they were both covered . As I was taking pics they walked up and took the covers off. They started them up and the sounded raspy. Almost like a smaller performance engine.

What do you guys think this may be ? I was up in its grille literally and couldn't make out what it was

From the exterior, I'd have to agree it's the new XE. But Jaguar engines don't usually sound raspy.

That raspy sound was probably the new 'Ingenium' 2.0 Turbo I4 family of engines slated for the XE

Edit: Here is the thread on the XE and 'Ingenium'

As others have voted, Jag XE. Per the New Jersey DTM plate as well. Same as I've had on a number of Jag test cars. Could be either the new turbo 4 or the supercharged V6 that's in a number of other products.

You're right on the NJ plates. But I don't think the actual shots were taken in NJ. Note the large palm trees behind the Applebee's restaurant. They might (?) have had those two test-mules down in a warmer climate checking A/C performance and/or engine cooling, as is common with the development process.

I figured it would be either a new jaguar or a new smaller Cadillac but with the ATS out it makes sense it the new jaguar .

Glad I can share with real car people . I post these pics on Facebook and its silent.

Just a recap..... I walked up and saw them covered so I kew they were special. Ive seen many mules in my day but never any covered in a lot. I tried taking photos with the covers on as you can see. Then as I walked away the drivers walked up and took the covers off. I tried taking more pics , and wanted to get shots of the front , but was a little nervous since the drivers were in the cars and they looked weirded out bec I was taking pictures. They slowly took the covers off and proceeded to start the cars and take off. The first car started as if the driver pressed the start button and gave it some gas as it started it. ( I do this in my F when I want to hear her to roar when she wakes) . From the way it sounded it was like driver was almost revving it so I could hear it.

As far as the exhaust note, the only way I can describe it was , it sounded just like the F Type jaguar when it started. Raspy , gargaley , and high pitched. It sounded way out the norm for a luxury car. I guess it may have been the SC V6.

By the way the back windows have stickers on the too to make it harder to tell the shape AND that weird wing thing on the back of the roof line looked like it didnt belong on the car. Like it was added to hide the shape

Same here.

Where did you take these shots, BTW? (see my reply to pbm317 above). Those look like palm trees out behind the Applebee's.

They were probably testing A/C and engine cooling.

You should have instantly recognized that as the Jag XE. Fail.

LOL. Jaguar is so off my radar its crazy. The only " Fail " here is your failure to add anything of value to the conversation

I didn't think it was taken in NJ, just commenting that the plate is much like many of the Jaguar evaluation vehicles I've driven, such as the following I had a few months ago.

Yep, Jag's press/test cars all get plated with Jersey plates (since they're HQ'd there)
