the Ls needs to stay a V8. its always had one and always should. I cant even imagine the shame of a LS200t....

LSF-? Twin turbo..Take my money!!!

MB is coming out with a new inline-6 that pushes over 400hp, rumor is it will go into the s class facelift. if lexus has that it's not a bad thing (though i doubt)

but still, i don't think think that should be reason to remove v8. i really hope that's not the case

Need to have a V8 twin turbo with 495+HP as common motor, while the V6TT for people wanna save gas (in a full size flagship, yeah right), and a hybrid for green people, lastly maybe we can hope for a V12TT :D

Steve

Knowing Lexus, they'll break their backs to make it slower than the competition.

It's the same story every year,

Cadillac managed to produce an LS competitor (CT6) with a base 2.0T. I agree it's ludicrous by the standards of this (flagship) class, but let's see how it sells. Like it or not, CAFE MPG regulations are forcing smaller engines almost across the board.

Look no further than the IS200T in relation to BMW 3/Audi A3 and Jaguar XE for your answers on how its turbo match up.

The CT6 is not totally an LS competitor. It's considerably cheaper than the LS when equipped with the 2.0T

I hope they prove me wrong, but I have doubts that the engines will have better numbers than what Mercedes just announced, or even Nissan's new V6 in the Q50 Red Sport

The CT6 is in an odd position, not quite there yet to be S/7/XJ/LS competitor, but larger than E/5/XF/GS.
i think as Cadi can't build a full on flagship so throw the CT6 out there for the time being.

What a horrible execution of a four cylinder turbo. Mitsu should have designed one for them instead

bitkahuna Nov 2, 2016 07:27 AM

whatever lexus does, they need to get going. last month the s-class outsold the ls 8:1.

situman Nov 2, 2016 08:30 AM

The 2.0t is a bit turdy. If the 3.0tt is buttery smooth like the V6 from the MZ series and pounds out around 400hp, its definitely fit for a flagship. At the end of the day, its the power numbers that matters. Besides, which makes for more interesting conversation? A 5L V8 making 400 ez hp or a teeny little V6 making 400hp and with the high tech acronyms that nobody remembers what it means?

Haha, love that gif.

Well, hopefully lexus "may" have learned their lesson from the GS F by putting that engine into the LC as a 500, not the "F".
But we'll see with stubborn lexus:rolleyes::dunno:
