Default Stunt driver confronts his own mortality by attempting the world's longest car jump

It starts out as your typical documentary about attempting something spectacular, dangerous and unprecedented; testing the limits of human and mechanical capabilities – from the engineers calculating the various measurements, to the 1,000 horsepower car that's custom-made for job, and of course the brave soldier strapped behind the wheel, with his family by his side.
This is the story of stunt driver Guerlain Chicherit's attempt to beat the record for the world's longest car jump. But what seems like your average tale of a crazy daredevil in search of a new rush turns into an emotional journey of heroism, drama and an up-close look at confronting mortality while trying to achieve something special.

To beat the record, Chicherit must surpass 100 meters in the air. A 20 ton steel ramp is constructed for the job, along with the aforementioned all-wheel drive jumping machine disguised as a Mini. Chicherit must hit the snow-covered jump at 100 mph: too slow and he'll land short, smashing into the landing ramp; too fast and he'll go long, flipping viciously onto his roof.

Chicherit, with his wife and child in tow, spend days preparing for the jump, undertaking a number of methodical practice attempts at shorter distances. GoPro documented the entire thing, and as you can see from the video below, what occurs is nothing short of spectacular.

I won't ruin it by giving away the ending, but let me just say this: you want to watch this video in its entirety. Be warned; some parts will be intense. And if you do, you'll discover a story with far more depth and emotion than you ever imagined. https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motora...202425481.html

did you notice they didn't have (or didn't show) any great camera angles of the crash from the outside?

Wow... It is amazing how good safety equipment has allowed people to walk away from major crashes so often.

I suspect the car wasn't 50/50 weight distributed hence why it rotated forward? Unbelievable how safe the safety cage is. Glad he's OK.
