As someone who was considering buying this car, I am disappointed.
- No new infotainment system from S Class
- New floating nav screen is not bigger than old one. Has a large bezel but is still old 8" screen.
- No HUD
Will wait to see that they do with the next generation E63 and CLS63.

benz and bmw are the kings of car design.
their ability for their designers to keep reinventing themselves even when you figure nothing better can come out of something that's already great.
for instance the cls, the 2005 to 2011 was already a ground breaking design, but they somehow managed to make it even better.
add to that all the copy cats in the industry who have imitated their style.
they are the true creators and originators of auto styling.

Copied as in added '4-door coupes'? All Benz look the same, all BMW look the same, Audi, Ford, Toyota, Chevy, VW they all do one sausage different lengths.
Mercedes may of pioneered the Automobile but Peugeot to Packard, Ford to Ferrari all had major influences in automotive design. Besides, take any period car and compare it to another car of the same period and they are bound to look alike.

US market Mercedes-Benz CLS won't offer MultiBeam LEDs
With the unveiling of the refreshed Mercedes-Benz CLS, we're awash in information on the sleek new four-door. While there's plenty of exciting stuff to talk about, including the availability of a six-cylinder CLS on US shores for the first time, here, we're going to focus on headlights. Those bright, MultiBeam LED headlights are a big leap forward from anything that Mercedes has offered before, and we figured they deserved a closer look.
The MultiBeam system improves upon the CLS' already formidable lamps by utilizing a new camera and LED element. Fans of headlight technology should note that this system is not unlike Audi's Matrix LED setup that's found on the 2015 A8. While it's not new, it doesn't mean that MB's system isn't pretty darn significant. Like the Matrix LED system, the CLS' headlights are able to constantly adjust the high-beam output on a specifically targeted area, which allows the CLS driver to maintain visibility without blinding oncoming traffic.
This is done thanks to a LED lighting element that's made up of 24 smaller chips, each of which can be individually adjusted. From there, there are four control units that draw information from a windshield-mounted camera, with each unit calculating the perfect lighting pattern 100 times per second.
Not only can the lighting elements be adjusted to prevent blindness, they also add a new degree of adaptability around bends and curves. Again, active front lighting systems are far from new, but with the CLS, Mercedes is promising to make the system even more intelligent, bolstering the visibility of its drivers.
Now, the bad news: Mercedes has told Autoblog that, at least at launch, the US-spec CLS won't be available with MultiBeam LEDs. We're guessing it's because of the same antiquated law that's preventing Audi from offering its Matrix LEDs. According to the Feds, headlights need separate low-beam and high-beam modes. It's a bummer, but somehow we don't see this rule changing in the near future (headlight regulations don't make for a very sexy campaign platform). Here's hoping Mercedes joins Audi's effort to get the law changed.

Actually the current CLS has a 7 inch nav screen, so the new one is larger, though not by much. I too am surprised it did not receive the new controller and the new COMAND interface. With it being 1 inch larger, and much closer to passengers instead of recessed into the dash, it might look bigger than it actually is

- Available 9-speed automatic transmission (CLS550 two-wheel-drive model)
- Adaptive suspensions, including AIRMATIC suspension with automatic damping system
- New exterior color options
- New interior trim options
- Available Intelligent Drive assistance systems

Interesting that this car gets a 9 speed auto that the new S class doesn't have, but doesn't have the new COMAND controller that the new C and S have... Weird mix
Another video on the new multi beam headlights

Mercedes has switched to a model in which every new model debut gets something special, instead of the S-class debuting everything first. The 9-speed is also undergoing a very slow roll out...AWD CLS models will still be using the 7-speed at first.

Mercedes-Benz Sends Off The CLS With Final Edition Specials
Click here to view more photos
Launched in 2010, the second-gen CLS is on its way out, with Mercedes offering special Final Edition models for both the four-door coupe and the Shooting Brake.
The W218 CLS carried on the original’s unique legacy in the segment, offering customers stylish alternatives to conventional four-door sedans and estates. Sadly, the Shooting Brake probably won't get a successor due to the lack of interest in China and the US, the world's two biggest markets.
Now, the car maker that invented the four-door-coupe niche, is sending them off packed to the gills with equipment.
Visually, in order to emphasize the vehicles’ luxurious, yet sporty character, Mercedes tailored both models in its AMG Line, which includes a diamond radiator grille in chrome, AMG front apron with striking, sporty air intakes, diamond lattice and chrome trim elements, AMG side sill panels and also AMG rear apron with simulated air outlets and chrome trim strip. Completing the look is a bumper-integrated two-pipe exhaust system with angular tailpipe trim elements, as well as a selection of rims, ranging from the 19-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, to the 18-inch AMG five-spoke light-alloys.
The cabin features the same sporty fashion as the exteriors, although a selection of fine materials were used to enhance the overall atmosphere. The driver and front passenger are accommodated on heated multi-contour seats, finished in black leather accentuated with light-colored topstitching, while a sports steering wheel with flattened bottom section - exclusive to the Final Edition – is used for precise control. Moreover, a high-quality badge with "Final Edition" lettering on the wing as well as appropriate lettering on the front floor mats was implemented, to remind future owners of the CLS' exclusivity.
The Final Edition will be available with DIRECT CONTROL sports suspension as well as MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus. All engine variants and can be ordered, as well as the complete range of paint finishes of the CLS family, with the Final Edition Package priced at €8,211 ($9,131), so we're looking at a $76,956 starting price.
