Could be an "interesting product"

According to a recent report, Nissan’s Nismo performance division is currently considering expanding its model range with tuned versions of pickups and SUVs.

Speaking to CarAdvice at the Nismo Festival in Japan, Darren ***, Nismo’s global boss of sales and marketing, commented that a Nismo version of the new Nissan Navara would be an interesting proposition. “In terms of product we need to be credible, pickup would be a massive seller for Nissan all around the world as it’s very much a global product,” he explained. “Nismo has to be a credible production car from Nissan that’s sporty and therefore we study the implications of that, a pickup could be an interesting product because of its global nature when we go into other markets”.

Currently, the all-new Navara is available with a retuned 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter diesel engine with 163 PS (120 kW) and 403 Nm (297 lb-ft) or 190 PS (140 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). Nissan is also offering a revised inline-four 2.5-liter gasoline engine. Both of them work with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
