I just threw my letter away in the mail when they sent it to me.

DOJ just announced a 1.2 billion dollar settlement with Toyota this morning, along with criminal charges.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using IB AutoGroup

He wouldn't be jumping for joy if he saw what the lawyers get--25-33% usually on those class actions.

yup it's usually the lawyers get get the big payday.

these opportunities are like jackpots for lawyers. They love these big class action lawsuits. They will pounce the second they see a misconduct.

It's always the case with all kinds of settlements.
$900 or whatever is still in our pocket for filling out a 1-2 minute online form. The courts stated we're entitled to the payment.
I've bought many Toyota/Lexus vehicles.I don't feel guilty at all.
I've traded in a vehicle or two during the recalls.I may have lost more than the $125 I received because of the recalls.

No guilt here either. I traded an ES350 during the recall, and I'll accept the check, cash it, and move on.

Sorry, dumb question here. Having read through all the recent posts and links about this settlement, I'm not seeing who actually qualifies. It sounds like a wide range of models and years. I never got a lawsuit notice in the mail, but my 2008 IS had to be taken in for the recall and adjustment. Were such cars excluded from this? Again, I never got anything in the mail regarding lawsuit participation, but my car needed the fix. What gives?

I got one for my 2009 ES350. Tossed it in the trash.

And you will be more out of pocket when Toyota has to factor those costs into the new wave of cars. Yeah , a real win win situation for all of us.

After many Lexus vehicles,I just may go with another brand..
Cost cutting and the vehicle cost will rise anyway.

The good news is that it's strictly a personal choice whether to sign up or not if you gualify. No arms are being twisted.

So Toyota/Lexus would increase their sale prices to recoup these funds, and squeeze themselves as to price competition with other cars? I don't think so.
