Default 2015 Ford Bronco – Truth or Myth?

Lately, I’ve noticed that a lot of people are looking for the 2015 Ford Bronco Concept model. Many websites write about it. But is it true that this SUV will ever enter the production and go on sale?
It is unlikely. All of those websites state some facts, details on performance and design, as well as the alleged release date and price. The truth is that they actually write about the 2004 Ford Bronco Concept model. All pictures posted there are also of this car (you can also see those images here).

Let’s say something about this old model.

Design of 2004 Ford Bronco Concept

This old SUV was introduced back in 2004, at the International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. To be honest, it did not introduce any innovations in its design. Somewhat resembles of one of those military vehicles.

However, it does add modern technologies to a classic style. Its round headlights are reminiscent of those used in the previous model, but use LED and halogen light sources for better peripheral vision.

The roof featured two separate sections, with removable rear portion, that can be used to attack the roll bar accents. This way, the SUV receives the look of a Baja racer.

On the rear, the taillights also use LED light sources in a cascaded array. The tailgate swings open to the side of the vehicle, allowing easy access to the cargo area, which houses a full-size spare tire.

Speaking of a tires, the 2004 Ford Bronco concept drives on 18-inch six-spoke aluminum wheels with LT 265/70R18 Goodyear all-terrain tires.

Interior Styling

Inside, there are only two seats, for a driver and one passenger. The seats are trimmed in ginger-hued suede that reminds of a natural leather work glove and accented with exact same color natural leather inserts. The cabin is roomy enough for even taller adult passengers.

The dashboard houses two round bezels, including a speedometer and a mix of odometer and compass. Such a nice feature, because this vehicle is primarily designed for driving on the off-road terrains, mountains and forests, where one could easily get lost.

Engine and Performance
The 2004 Ford Bronco Concept was powered by a 2.0-liter intercooled turbodiesel I4 engine that combined outstanding power, torque and improved fuel economy. It was able to develop 128 horsepower and 244 pound-feet of torque. Ideal for both off-road and city driving. When needed, the engine was able to deliver 258 lb-ft of torque for a limited time. It was mated to a six-speed PowerShift manual transmission.

All those rumors that the new model will have a brand-new 3.5-liter EcoBoost, 4.5-liter diesel, and 5.0-liter gasoline engine, are just nonsense. The automaker never confirmed any of this.

2015 Model Release Date
According to many websites, the new 2015 Ford Bronco will be released either by the end of this year on in early 2015. When will you be able to drive it? Probably never. You see, all those articles are nonsense. The 2004 model was cancelled when the 2013 Ford Escape was introduced, which means that it is unlikely that the 2004 model will ever go into production, let alone on sale.

As Mythbusters say, “this myth is busted.”

Or for those with money and dedication:

1. Buy a new Super Duty for a cool $55-65,000
2. Spend about $20,000 extra to convert it into a Bronco
3. Enjoy offroading they way it was meant to be, with 400 HP and 800 LB/FT of torque.

I'm on board for a new Bronco. This would no doubt spur the segment again, similar to how the Raptor has done. A new Bronco vs new Blazer is ok by me!

I like Brett's idea lol

The Bronco concept looks ok. I don't know if it'll get built, tho.

I'm all for a big 2-door Bronco (in fact, I have a friend who would probably buy one). Bring it back.....but not with this body style. IMO, it looks too much like a Jeep both front and back.
