Default 2021 Kia K5 / Optima

The company hasn't revealed the car's interior and mechanical specs, though.

Its OK - too ovestyled in front and back with squiggly lights and bumper lines.

Exterior looks better than the Sonata IMO. Will have to wait to see the interior

Not bad.

I like the chrome line that goes all the way around the rear window. The DRL lights are interesting

An SUV c-pillar on a sedan? I'm having the hardest time adapting to the new androgynous trends.
And it wouldn't be a new car debut if I didn't compare it to something else. Front: Mitsu Galant. Rear: new Audi A7.

Not bad looking and kudos to Kia and Hyundai for keeping these sedans around to compete with Accord, Camry. But the styling is not groundbreaking. Too much Lincoln MKZ at the C pillar.

A lot of MKZ styling at the rear, but I don't mind it as I also think the MKZ's rear end is the only part of that car that looks decent. I do like how the metal trim connects under the rear window, nice detail. Black vinyl roof and pillars will be a popular modification with owners here.

Interior is where I think this will be a huge hit.

Personally think it's the best exterior in this class right now (I'm biased clearly, but the current design language resonates with me), but also nothing in this class actually looks good.

WAY overstyled in the rear. There's practically no trunk lid at all. The rear roofline is ridiculous.

I really like it. For a sedan to sell in this world of SUVs it has to have some bold and/or sporty touches.

Really a copycat between Audi and Dodge, but it looks really good.

Somehow these never sell too well despite looks, maybe copy designs grow old fast? They stopped Optima sales in most European countries

I agree.

i saw a new Avalon on the road the other day too, first one I’ve seen and I thought it looked GREAT.

but anyway, i guess the Optima is basically Kia’s version of the Sonata. I think they’ve done a great job, in a challenging market.

The trunklid, if I remember correctly, is cut higher up than the painted area, much like the Lincoln MKZ as others commented.

First impressions are quite good. Very striking and emotional. I really like it. Much, much better than the new Sonata.

Yes, I saw that, but it still is quite a small trunk opening. But that seems to be the trend in sedans these days (or, at least, in most of the sedans that are left).....try to make them look like coupes, even though they are not coupes, and not supposed to be.
