Porsche exec confirms Macan Diesel for US
The idea of a diesel-powered Porsche is the sort of thing that sounds really, really weird... until you actually drive it. The result of sticking glow plugs under the hood of Stuttgart's finest, though, is a vehicle that's nearly as entertaining as a gas-powered model but with much more torque and better fuel economy. Considering that, we think it's absolutely splendid news that following previous reports, Porsche has now confirmed a diesel-powered Macan for the US market.
"We are now busy with the development and the engineering," Andre Oosthuizen, Porsche's North American marketing VP, told Automotive News. "I can confirm that V6 diesel offering with about 245 horsepower."
Yep, that's the same 3.0-liter V6 found, most notably, in the CUV's Audi Q5 platform-mate as well as a plethora of other Volkswagen Group vehicles, both in the US and abroad. Stuttgart already offers the 3.0-liter oil-burner in the Euro-spec crossover, where it churns out 258 hp and 427 pound-feet of torque.
As for the rumored four-cylinder Macan, we shouldn't count on that one for the US, with Oosthuizen pointing to the limited production capacity.
"We don't have enough capacity," the exec told AN, "so it's probably the Macan S and Turbo and then our next priority will be the diesel."
Oosthuizen pointed to the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show as a possible destination for the diesel's debut, where it may be announced with a starting price under $60,000.

OMG 
Saw my very first Macan out on the road late yesterday afternoon right off the George Washington Bridge on the NJ side and it looks soooo sexxxxy
It was just getting a little dark with the sun setting and the rear brake lights on this looked amazing !!! It didn't have the 4 little LED lights up front but still it looked great !

I was reading my latest Car and Driver which had a Macan review, their model they tested was over $104,000
with just a turbo 400hp 6 cylinder. I could not believe it, its base price was over 70K. I thought the Macan was supposed to be the "entry level" Porsche SUV positioned well under the Cayenne? Don't know how you can justify spending that kind of money on a entry level Porsche SUV with a 6 cylinder, it was fast though, 0-60 in 4.2 sec which is even more impressive considering it weighs over 4000lbs. I did not read the whole review but it seemed like they were saying it was not as nimble or as great handling as you would expect and felt its weight.

Motor Week Puts the Porsche Macan Turbo Through its Paces
When I last visited Porsche’s Leipzig plant, the factory was expanding and getting retooled to produce the new Macan compact luxury crossover alongside the saloon and the second-gen Cayenne.
It took more than a couple of years for the smaller SUV in Porsche’s range to be formally launched but now the Macan production is in full force and everyone is itching to get their hands on one.
The Macan may be based on the Q5 platform, since both Porsche and Audi belong to the VW Group, but it is longer, wider and lower. According to the Stuttgart-based automaker, it is much sportier, too.
Motor Week has tested the range-topping Turbo version that comes with a 3.6-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 that’s good for a nice, round 400hp that’s good for a 0-60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds.

It offers the 18x9 off-road alloy wheels in both polished and matte finishes wrapped in Mickey Thompson STZ all-weather tires, with the entire package priced at €3,900, which is the US equivalent of $4,800.

Hi guys. I'm in the market for a new car. I've capped the budget at $65K. A Porsche Macan S at a nearby dealership has an MSRP of $61k. I've also looked at a 2015 Lexus GS 350 for $59k, and an Audi S4 also for $59k. I'm buying, not leasing. I've narrowed down the choices to these 3 cars. The vehicle will be used as a daily driver (commuting from home to office to mall to school pick up of one high schooler) 99% of the time. In other words, I'm looking for a sporty luxury vehicle that still has utilitarian value. I'm leaning towards the GS since I'm a current Lexus owner and happy with the brand. I've test driven the GS and the S4 already, still have to test the Macan. The Porsche is more expensive but not by much. I appreciate feedback from those who have cross-shopped these cars and what your decision was. Thanks.

Did you check loaded NX for $15k less loaded :-)
Right now I would pick NX as best buy from Lexus range, especially if you dont drive mostly on highway where GS will certainly be better.

Also, don't you love it when car reviewers think they're SO hardcore, they continually refer to every car as "this thing"

The Macan Turbo has received the Porsche Exclusive treatment bringing a variety of cosmetic tweaks.
The last time Porsche Exclusive showed us a special Macan it was an S version and now they focused on the beefier Turbo model which packs a twin-turbo V6 3.6-liter engine developing 400 HP (294 kW). This particular car has received an Impulse Red Metallic body paint that has been carried over inside the cabin on the dials and seatbelts.
The high-performance compact crossover rides on 21-inch black high gloss Sport Classic alloy wheels and comes with blackened bi-xenon headlights. It also has the SportDesign exterior mirrors, glossy black side skirts, yellow brake calipers and glossy black roof rails and rear diffuser. On the inside it benefits from dark brown leather upholstery and carbon fiber accents on the dashboard.
