Lexus Racing Announcement at Tokyo Auto Salon This Week?
Lexus has released a rendering of their Lexus Racing display for the Tokyo Auto Salon, a massive aftermarket event held in Japan — here’s the image in full (click for a larger version):
While the press release mentions the Super GT racing series, the image shows a vehicle that looks more like an LFA than the new Lexus RC GT500 race car — if anything, it resembles the discontinued LFA GTE racecar seen in 2012.
The Tokyo Auto Salon starts on Friday, January 10th and runs through the weekend. Stay tuned for more updates!

There is a rumor that Japanese team will enter WEC in 2014 in GTE class. Some speculations went on to declare its Toyota but were rather dismissed due to already tight budget for LMP1 car and due to regulation changes for GTE class in 2015-16. Basically argument was that since developing GTE car is whole a lot more expensive than developing GT3 who in their right mind would develop GTE car only to have it redesigned in two years when regulation changes to make it more a GT3 car.
Well that was a valid argument unless the car was already developed but never used like LFA GTE.
Could this be it? Could Lexus be the rumored Japanese team in WEC GTE for 2014?

Lexus Champion
The LFA GTE is going to need updating to compete. The width of the car for one is a long way off what the new cars are running (2050mm/205cm). Hopefully it is the LFA, but I think itd be in a GT3 or VLN series. We will see.
