Based on the latest videos and how the car sounds, im pretty sure the Supra will be getting the S55 engine from the M3/M4 which is GREAT news. Its a true twin-turbo inline 6 engine with established aftermarket.

I used to be so about Surpa's turbo's, still kind of am. Used to fantasize about owning a Supra Turbo and would have got one if the prices for used later model Turbo's were not so outrageous was I was in the market. This new "Supra" from what I have read and seen does absolutely nothing for me, does not excite me in the least, from the styling, platform, powerplant, just everything is disappointing which is a shame especially considering how long this car took to come to market and it looks to be only a very half hearted effort that will be punching well below what the last Supra was going against. I just don't think anything is going to change by the time it is fully revealed.
I would have been more excited if they just built the same Supra turbo from the 90's, look wise but just give some more modern suspension and engine tuning to over 400hp, give the interior nicer materials, and maybe a DSG.

Call me an optimist if you will, but if the Supra is as good as an Z4M Coupe, I'm sold!
See, I've owned 2 Supra TTS:
- 1993 Supra TT 6-speed BPU to 450hp
- 1997 Supra TT 6-Speed stock
I really shouldn't of sold my 97', which was an ultra rare RSP color one. But by 2002, rumors we're swirling of an emminent MKV, so thought Id have a very short wait! Almost 20 years later, here we are! I've heard constant rumors of new Supras even from actual Toyco employees who swear it's coming, yet nothing. I've also come close to buying 3 others only to push myself to believing another one is congrats soon.
So...when I hear people say they're not interested in waiting, or so disinterested now, it just means less competition for me! I've waited this long, so if it takes another 2 years for Toyco to work with BMW to.make the S55 bulletproof, all the better I say!!! I can wait!

I hope Toyota doesn’t mess up the Supra like Acura did with NSX.
All they got to do is copy the formula of Mustang / Camaro / Challenger which is bring back a MODERN version of original Supra and make sure its not overpriced.

Supra was always expensive, and so will this one be...

The high price was also why they had to discontinue it.
Unfortunately Japanese sports cars will not sell if they are overpriced.
New Supra needs to be around $55-65k, higher than a Mustang but cheaper than a Corvette.
There is room there in that niche for a well made sports car. At $80-90k nobody will buy it.

I don't think Acura messed up anything. Supra will not be your discount two door like Camaro/Firebird/Mustang were in early '90s and like how they are now. Situation today is a lot better than 20 years ago cause now you can actually have good versions of Mustang/Camaro/Challenger but you still have to pay a lot of money for them just like you will have to pay for upcoming Supra.

All indications are it will be similar to BMW Z4 pricing. If it does have the S55 engine then I can see it going up to $70k. It will have a detuned setup from the M3/4 like the M2Comp.
Besides pricing a manual is essential for it to have decent sales. They should look at M2 and BRZ/86 - manual take rate on those cars is 50% of the sales.

Supra like the NSX and the 3 ponycars have a lot of nostalgia and history to their respective customer basis.
Mustang, Camaro and Challenger have been masterful at understanding exactly what their customers want and delivering.
New NSX completely failed on delivering what their existing NSX owners wanted. Who ever asked for an AWD hybrid NSX that is close to 4,000lbs and costs $185k with minimal options. They sold 5 units last month, there is no way they will make a follow up version.
Supra owners want TT inline 6 that can be modified and put up crazy HP #s.
S55 engine is a GREAT start plus BMW has done amazing job with all the cooling components for it to make consistent power on the track. I’m hopeful Toyota will deliver.
