Quote: Has anyone else noticed that they're no longer using the Hyundai badge on the steering wheel and hood and instead using the "Genesis" badge? I can't help but wonder why they're trying harder to focus more on the Genesis branding than reminding customers that it's still a "Hyundai". Could it maybe be a sign that they're slowly moving more toward finally creating a luxury brand? hmmm
The Steering Wheel picture seems to be of a Korean Market vehicle, looking at the text on the center display. So I bet we could still see it in the U.S. Version. I can't remember from my drive whether the steering wheel had the H or not.

The front of the current genesis didn't have the Slanted H either, but the back did. Same on the Equus.

The Genesis Sedan featured at the Detroit Auto Show showed the steering wheel with the "GENESIS" BADGE.

With that said, I believe that for the rear, only Korean Domestic Models will get a Genesis Badge for the rear..........while cars sold to markets outside of Korea will get the Hyundai 'H' badge instead

I'm seeing it more and more on the road now (probably the same one) and I like it way better than the old genesis.

Much more road presence (not like it matters in a hyundai, does it?)

All-New 2015 Hyundai Genesis Priced from a Low $38,000* in the US

Quote:
Hyundai officials kept their promise to retain a sub-$40,000 sticker for the new and improved 2015 Genesis sedan, with the mid-size model starting from $38,000, or $38,950 if you include the $950* delivery charge, for the well-equipped entry-level version that gets its power from a 311hp 3.8-liter V6 engine paired to an 8sp automatic turning the rear wheels.

While the base MSRP represents a $2,800 increased over the outgoing (and still available) 2014 Genesis with the 333hp 3.8L V6, Hyundai states that, besides the bigger body and new design, the second-gen model also "delivers significantly more standard content", including, but not limited to, 8-inch navigation with rearview camera, paddle shifters, hill hold control, power folding mirrors, HD Radio and driver knee airbag.

The 2015 Genesis sits between a BMW 5-Series and a 7-Series (SWB) in terms of size at 196.5in (4,990mm) long, but it's pricing effectively places it next to the BMW 3-Series (328i starts at $37,300), and even the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which may start at $29,900 (sans D&H), but it lacks many of the standard features found on the Hyundai and can easily end up costing more. Of course, this only makes sense if you don't care about the fancy badge.

For the first time, the Genesis is also offered with the option of all-wheel drive for the V6 engine ($2,500 more than the RWD model), while at the top of the range is the 420hp 5.0-liter V8 edition that is available exclusively with RWD and has an MSRP of $51,500*.

“The all-new Genesis rivals the best premium sedans in the world, at a price point many thousands of dollars less,” commented Dave Zuchowski, CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “Our 2015 Genesis represents a bold step forward for Hyundai and reinforces the successful strategy of marketing our premium models under the Hyundai brand umbrella, rather than a costly separate luxury brand sales channel. As a result, we’re able to pass the benefits of this strategy directly to our valued customers.”

New ratings for both V-6 and V-8 are lower in max horsepower but have new torque curves that Hyundai says improve performance.

I heard that Hyundai is working on trying to mate their HTRAC All Wheel Drive system with their 5.0 liter Tau V8 engine.

I hope it does come out

$38,000 for something that looks good is a great price. When you have something special like this you also want it to feel comfortable as well, and that is what Hyundai needs to focus on, Refinement. Coupled with modern technology, engineering, safety, utility and drive experience is what truly makes a good vehicle. This is their second try, let's hope it improves on the bold first gen's accolades. No different than Lexus offering the F line in a world where nobody knows who you are while your challengers are well established. And yet from 2008 to current 2014, the IS F is far more refined from when it started and can handle its own. The next F's will be forces not to make light of (as Albert Biermann, vice president of engineering, BMW M clearly has no idea what he's up against vs the more noble Yukihiko Yaguchi, deputy chief engineer, Lexus F https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rc-...responses.html) . Hyundai will continue to push

great post Jared. I believe the quality is there with Hyundai they just need to fine tune it. it will be interesting to read the magazine reviews and comparisons with other vehicles in its class.

While offering more goodies the price continues to creep up which is the last thing this car needs. The last gen wasn't exactly a hot seller and there were huge discounts on it. This is relaxed car, a respectable effort but the badge will continue to scare consumers away. For those that do purchase it they will have a solid car which clearly offers some real value. Kudos on a 2nd generation!

Or perhaps they didn't overstate their numbers by as much as they usually do?
